Well, it appears our persistence has finally paid off! Last week we requested a different technician to come out and hear our oven noise. He was much more persistent than the other technician, whose standard answer to both our dishwasher and oven issues was to tell us the problems were normal and nothing could be done!

Tech #2 took the time to go to new homes around us that were unoccupied, and found a single wall oven exactly like ours. We followed him to that house, and listened to the oven. That oven made the same loud noise, and the 3 of us knew there was a problem. The tech agreed the noise was *not* normal, but he couldn't do anything because the Whirlpool tech told him that's how it is.

We persisted in telling the Whirlpool rep this was not acceptable. He promised to make things right for us, and had to do some further investigating. So we waited, followed up, and played phone tag...

The oven experts at Whirlpool have admitted there is a problem with our model of oven! Yay!!! We learned that we weren't the only ones to complain about this noise! Honestly, you couldn't be on the phone in the kitchen with the noise it made!

The Whirlpool rep said it was thanks to us being persistent about this noise that drove them to do something about it! :pepper2: Whirlpool has made a repair kit available for the fan noise in our model of oven. We hope it will solve the problem, and have to wait (yet again) to hear when this will happen. Stay tuned for a report after this kit is installed...

Congratulations!
As I earlier stated, if they got enough complaints there would be a retrofit issued for the problem. In my previous life I was a technician and if a company is worth it's salt it would recognize a problem and make good on it.
Keep after them and let us know...

My neighbor has a whirlpool fridge, every now and again, it would make this loud clanking sound that would wake them up in the middle of the night. They called a repairman twice and each time they said it would be 2-3 days until they could look at it. Don't ya know when they got there the clanking stopped. So, my neighbors decided to tape record the noise so the technician could hear it. So they called yet again and the technician came to their home and they played the recording for him. He said there was nothing they could do because he had to hear it in person. My neighbors are so angry that they cannot get help with this loud clanking noise. Shame on Whirlpool.

They should call warranty, not Whirlpool. The Villages makes the decisions on what appliances are installed in new homes and they make the decisions based on performance and support of the items by the manufacturers.

Warranty is the answer. So...I would call them again and tell warranty what the service tech said. AND the name of the service tech.

On a lighter note....

We have loud noises sometimes in our refrigerator. We are thinking to call a priest to exorcise it. ;). Fortunatly because we are really OLD, our hearing isn't what it used to be and it doesn't waken us. There are blessings in anything if you look hard enough. ;););)

This reminds me of a TV we bought once. I think it was a Zenith. The TV was only a few weeks old when it stopped working. We called the store, unplugged the TV and watched another while we waited a few days for them to come over. Once the repairman got there he plugged the TV in and (of course!) it worked. He then told me that this particular model had a problem with the module. I told him to replace it and he told me he couldn't because the TV was working and the manufacturer had a rule about it..if it wasn't broke he couldn't fix it. He said to call him next time it happened..the only problem was, the next time it happened the warranty had run out and they wouldn't touch it.
