VOIP with Ooma improvements

I have been using Ooma for about 3 years. In our VA home, TV home and two rental homes. It was good but would have a bit of static or an occasional loss of a word. Then I found out about QoS. Follow these instructions and the quality of voice, connection and the entire service improved dramatically. Got two homes done and will do the rentals soon.

Thanks for the post! Plan to use Ooma in TV. Which internet service do you have in TV? I plan to have as high as speed as possible because I'll be watching NY sports from my son's home on LI in TV!

I currently have U-verse with 12 MB down and it's good enough...

We used Vonage for years but recently switched to MagicJack for our homes in Canada and Florida (unlimited long distance calling in North America). The reception is good, but not perfect. Now I'm wondering if we should be using Ooma.

I bought magic jack when it first came out. I would agree not perfect. The new magic jack is appealing but figure that it would not be perfect. (the one that hooks up to the modem so you don't need the computer on)
Just my opinion, but figuring it's just too small to pack that much electronics in it to make it perfect...

I have had Ooma for 3 years and been very happy. I'll try that suggestion. Thanks.
I avoided Majik Jack since nearly all reviews said horrible customer service.
I also have a Nettalk and pleased with it although it does not have as many services as ooma.

I did have magic jack and it was OK, but having to have the computer on was a problem. Maybe the new one is better. I tried Ooma and it was good, but a few issues. However since I followed the QoS setting and set me Ooma speed to match my internet speed (which is the $24.95 slow speed one from comcast) the phone is perfect. As good as any land line I have ever used.

Ooma is great. But FWIW, there's a new kid on the block. OBI (http://goo.gl/qY06Z). Not sure it has all the features, but it's a lot cheaper and I don't think it has the month taxes like Ooma.
