Villagers that subscribe to this plan - any feed back. According to the ads in the Daily Sun it is rated 5 stars. I disagree!! Poor quality of service.

I know some doctors are dropping them as they are overriding the doctor's decisions on necessary medical care and won't cover it

We are new to the plan. The price obviously can't be beat. So far we have only used the vision plan and it turned out the place we went offered a deal that put the frames and lense quite a bit less than the plan offered. Did get the exam covered so can't really complain.

What eye dr did you use?

Hubby and I each found a medical dr with the plan which we like.
We have not found a dentist with the plan with whom we can be happy. We are paying for dental care instead.
The ins co has dropped the dentist that my hubby liked. Incidentally he had to drive to Tavares to find this dentist. They also dropped the eye dr he liked. He needed a procedure with his eyes and could not get it. That was in Apr. In Aug the eye dr was added back again and now he is going back for that procedure. (a lot of patients complained between Apr and Aug)
We were told that AARP is buying them out in Jan and we don't know what to expect at that time. Hubby has a lot of health issues and will probably drop them at that time.(We are not allowed to drop them mid-year.)
I am pretty healthy and will see what they have to offer in Jan.
Good luck to you-you just never know when the ins co will drop your dr cold turkey!
Also the drs offices complain about the rules that we have to abide by with PCP.

My husband has been on Preferred Care Partners 2 years, and I have been on it one year. We've had no complaints at all. Husband had surgery this year. Didn't pay for a thing.

...We were told that AARP is buying them out in Jan and we don't know what to expect at that time.....

AARP does not own or operate any health insurance companies or plans, they just endorse and allow their name to be associated with such plans. Namely United Health Care’s HMO plans

It is United Health Care that acquired Preferred Care Partners in June as reported here (http://finance.yahoo.com/news/unitedhealthcare-extends-commitment-helping-floridians-100000703.html).

So far, no news of any coverage changes to the Preferred care plans.

We have the Gold Plan with Preferred Care and we've liked it! I've seen the dentist off from Old Camp Rd. and we both have been to the eye doctor as well (me twice). So far no complaints as my primary was in their system. I haven't heard (other than Mid-FL Eye, but now they're back) any doctor's dropping them. Time will tell after that "event" that takes place this fall.

I am amazed that that dentist did not recommend 5 crowns which you did not need.

Yes, that is what I meant, United Health Care.

Apparently my cleaning has paid off since twice I got a good report!! Oh...I might add that I already have several dental implants so guess that would negate your comment! LOL

Did you use any eye drs or dentists?

We used their eye doctors and were pleased. We have a separate dental policy (Delta Dental through AARP)

Mid Florida Eye on HWY 441, north of TV. They were off for awhile and now back with PCP. Our Primary doc was dropped as of 10-1. He had 300 PCP pts. Would imagine that will put quite a load on the remaining PCP docs in the area. When the insurance drops these providers I never read an explanation as to why. Same with denials for services - no rationale is given.

I have used Dr. Fisher as dentist and have not had a problem.
Had eye exam at Walmart by an optometrist. They had more digital equipment to make an exam than most doctor's offices - no need to dilate eyes with their equipment. They will send you to an opthamologist if they see something wrong.
Just had hospital stay of 5 days with pneumonia. $50.00 co pay per day.
They wanted to keep me an extra day to do a cat scan, but I said I could get that done at my primary care office. They denied the cat scan. Dr. said they are just about refusing all requests since being bought out by United Health Care.
Will have to see what they offer next year.

I have been with them for a year and have not had any problems. Did get an eye exam but am waiting for my dentist appointment. Waiting to see if there will be any changes now that United Health Care has bought them out.

We have been on PCP since last January. I can't believe that down the road these HMOs will be around regardless of how Medicare is revamped. Too expensive for Medicare giving a refund of $75/mo.
Had to give up a great primary doctor since he doesn't accept PCP. We found another great doctor near the hospital. Golf cart accessible. Haven't found a dentist after three tries. Haven't tried to find eye doctor. Previous eye doctor at Lake Eye doesn't accept PCP.
Might go back to AARP Advantage next year even though it's more expensive.

I have used PCP for two years and have been very pleased. I think an advantage plan has more appeal to the more healthy senior citizen. My experience with Dr. Fisher's dental office was very pleasant. I got a great cleaning with no high pressure recommendations for anything else. Remember that standard medicare with a supplement policy usually does not cover eye care or dental work, so these features with PCP are a nice extra.

We have been with PCP since Jan. I had some problems with my hands and wrists. Every step of the way had to be refered to PCP to be approved. As a result, the resolution to my problem took over 4 months, where it could have been resolved in one month or less. PCP is fine for people who don't need extensive diagnostic services. We were able to change to United Health Care Medicare Suplement (Plan F). It cost substantially more than PCP, but you do not need approval from the PCP to go see a specialist. Also you may want to see if PCP is "caping" your medical provider. This means if you use your dollar allotment as established by PCP for your physician, you will have to wait until next month to have any other services preformed. Things may change when United Healthcare takes over for PCP in 2014. Questions that you should have answers for so you can be sure what you are signing up for.

I am in my second year, shame on me. If you like cheap and you are already healthy - these are your people. If you want a clear english speaking Primary Physician, if you want a representative list of competant providers, if you don't care about jumping through hoops to get a referral and/or you don't care if your urgent care needs will take up to a month to be attended....these are your people. A fair comparison would be the socialized health care provided by the Canadiens. Again, some like the price and are not that concerned about the care. For me, I am dumping them as soon as the enrollment period opens again.

I have several health issues going! We have PCP and will be keeping it! It was a good decision in my opinion. Haven't had to jump through hoops. You might have to wait for specialists but that's because *their* schedules are full. That was my experience before I was with PCP...not the primary's fault.

If my Doctors were telling me they are having a problem with the Insurance co (medicare advantage) I would change Doctors. No confidentiality. The programs may be Insurance co, but the rules are Medicares . A Bad exp at the Drs would not be the Insurance co fault. There is some better than others and waiting until Jan to find out is too late. All info will be Avail 10/15 for 2012
