I made a tee time last week for today at The Links at Spruce Creek, suppose to be a two rounds for $16. special that they advertised in the paper and confirmed on my tee time. When my foursome got there we were told that corporate pulled that special and they charged us each $18. (Was this not false advertisement?)
Then to add insult to injury the marshal said we were holding up play on hole 14 after 2.75 hrs on the course, we finished our round in 3.5 hours, what a bunch of crap, we were faster then most foursomes. They put twosomes behind us that refused to play through when we waved them on!
Needless to say I will never go back there if they give golf away!

I think the marshal on 14 tells that to everyone.
I woulda changed the $18 on plastic and called the credit card co the next day and changed it to $16.

I suppose this now means 4 tee times in TV will now be taken up?

Lesthegolfer: Sounds like a bad golf experience and very bad PR on the part of Links at Spruce Creek. It will probably do "nothing" but I would write a letter to Links at Spruce Creek and let them know that I do not appreciate being treated in such an unprofessional manner. I would also let them know that you intend to pass on information of the bad experience to fellow golfers in TV. To me it would not be the money but rather how the whole incident was handled. A twosome has no preference on the golf course in the first place but it was nice to offer for them to play through.

From the glass half full perspective, $18 is not a bad price, especailly to play a course that's in considerably better condition than most in TV.

That was not the point. They were told $16 and should have been charged $16 since the policy was in effect on the day that they reserved the Tee Time.

I had a tee time set up about a year or so ago there and when I showed up, the course was closed. There was no indication that the course was closed due to illness, etc. just "lights out and no one home". I was very impressed.......NOT!

Friends of mine got caught up in this situation last week at Spruce Creek. I believe they told me the "new" price was $22. All four protested the surprise change with no luck. Finally they just said goodbye and left.

Just a thought-----I've started calling the course the day before to confirm my reservation, tee time and cost when I'm playing outside my "normal" set of courses within TV. Last year we showed up at The Plantation to find out that we did not have a reservation. Somebody there had messed up! However, they did work us in but it was a delay and we had to play the other course. I didn't play well as I was the one that had made the reservation for our foursome. I got a lot of "ribbing" from the guys. Good excuse, huh?

Our group plays the Links frequently, and have never encountered any problems. Of course, we do play on Mondays in the shotgun start.
