There is definitely an emotional reaction each time there is a thread about dogs on this forum. I thought it would be interesting to have a poll so posters could tell without revealing their identity how they felt about dogs.

l. I completely enjoy them. They add a lot to my living experience here.

2. They are alright if they keep their distance and behave nicely.

3. I don't feel comfortable around them and I wish there weren't so many in The Villages and I wish people wouldn't bring them to the squares.

4. I really do not like them at all and under any circumstances.

Well, without reservation I am a #1. They aren't called man's best friend for nuthin'. And I guess I have just revealed my feelings for all the world to see.

I love dogs but I'm grateful for the fact that I don't have to train one. I love dog watching cause they're like grandkids -- you know they're not your daily responsibility 24/7-365 and you can spoil them and send 'em home. I admit that I have to run and pet almost every dog I see, especially when they are being walked by my house and I'm on the lanai. So, put me on the dog adoration side.

If you get the poll going, suggest you add one more category -- love 'em but don't want to own one right now.

GG, Hope you get your poll going. Til then I am a #1 times 3. I couldn't LIVE without a dog in my life. Started when I was a baby and I drank my bottle using the family dog as a pillow. I was hooked then and still a dogaholic.

Gracie-

You should add...I'm fine with them as long as owners are responsible for them.

That seems to be the biggest issue. Most are but the bad apples bring out the upset. Where I lived before...our neighbors had animals. All but one took care of there animals and were responsible owners.

Sigh... Definitely number one for me. My little Rosie was my comfort zone when my husband passed away. Unconditional love at its' best and she never left my side. That's her as my avitar!

#2 for me
And constant barking is a pet peeve of ours
where we are now, there is no homeownenrs association, so it is a 'free for all' w the barking
We hope barking is curtailed in TV
is it?
We won' t move into our house till June...

I'm a #1.
I completely enjoy dogs, but we are dogless now. It seems so strange to be down to only one pet. Actually, he's a 3-legged cat, so he counts as only 3/4 of a pet. Over our married years we've had 6 dogs, 12+ cats and assorted reptiles, fish & rodents.

I love visiting with other people's dogs at the squares and on the streets in The Villages. I like it that I can go to town and get my "dog fix" every night. Other folks' dogs add a lot to my living experience here.

Yep. Definitely #1.

Put me down for a #1. My little buddy loves me when I'm sick, dirty, in a foul mood, unconditionally. And I love him right back.

I am not a dog owner but 1 and 2 for me.

My son has a bulldog who is very sweet. She just wants to be petted and loved. She hardly ever barks. Very docile.
