I am curious to know if power outages are a frequent problem in the T V. In Michigan, we have found a generator to be very helpful especially during ice storms. Is it something we should bring with us to TV?
Building in Gilchrist soon.

We have a generator and have never had to use it in the 6 years we've lived here. Power may go out for various reasons, but not for long periods of time.
If you're more comfortable having one, AND have the space in your garage to store it safely, then bring it with you. You can buy another here if you don't bring yours and then decide you need one. Not sure how large or heavy the one you have is, or if the movers will transport it, assuming you're using a moving company.

Thanks so much for taking the time to respond. With limited space at TV, I didn't want to bring something big that I did not need.

8 years here and only one power outage that happened last week for about an hour....that time span includes several near miss hurricanes/tropical storms and the usual lightning intense summer storms.

Been here in The Villages full time for 3 years. Power has flickered on and off (less than one second - just enough to get the digital clocks flickering) a few times but no outages. I did hear one lasted about an hour last week in the Bonneybrook - Tall Trees area.

In 7-1/2 years, I can recall only two outages. One, several years ago, lasted all of a minute or less.
The most recent was a week or two ago. It was during the "wee hours," and also lasted a very short time. It did, however, cause me concern because it triggered my special alarm [I use a power-dependent CPAP device], waking me in the middle of the night!
Bottom line, with all power underground, I cannot see why a generator is necessary!

TV has underground lines to the substation. Not much exposure to trees, animals, wind and Lightning. Electic lines in the older areas of the US, are on poles, with all the above exposures. Transmission lines & substation are the first things repaired after a Hurricane, which would be TV biggest risk for outages. I do not think you need one.:22yikes:

Been here seven years and I can't remember any that lasted more than a couple minutes. Remember, all electrical lines in TV are underground so the problems experienced "up north" from wind, ice, lightning, squirrels, etc. are minimized to almost nothing.
