Brings back memories as a kid going to Capital Raceway near DC. Found this You Tube video I wanted to share. Hope it brings back memories of the old Muscle cars and the sport.

Been a fan since my first race at Dragway 42 in West Salem Ohio on July 3 1963. The Drag News Invitationals. Spent many a Labor Day week at Indy for The Nationals. I was there when this video was taken. Great memories. Been to races from Englishtown to Pomona and many places in between.
I still follow it but my interests are in the sportsman racing and NOT the pros. Still have a few friends that still race after all these years.
It gets in your blood.

Don't here of many who follow drag racing anymore. I still remember when the dealers would bring a new demo, ( I remember seeing a 1969 GTO Judge) with dealer tags running at the track. My friend had an immaculate 1969 Hurst Olds (Gold & White) with 455 CID with the 4 speed line lock. Pretty neat when you locked it and you sat still smoking the tires! :beer3:

You got that right. I try to get to one nation event a year but only go on Fridays. The cost is out of sight for what you see on the other days. I can't imagine taking a couple of kids to a national event without spending a couple hun just for Saturday or Sunday.
Any more I hate watching the Pros as they take up so much time for a few second pass. They jack around and jack around and just waste time. Bring back the old days when they pushed the cars to start them and if you didn't start there was a turn off that up were pushed to. It did not matter who you were back then.
Pro stock use to be interesting back in the day when the cars at least started out as a production vehicle. Park a new street vehicle next to the same make and model pro stocker and they are not even close.
Those are some of the reasons I prefer the sportsman racing as it is something everyone can easily relate to. The new crop of new factory ready stockers and super stockers have made those classes very interesting. For $70k to $100k you to can buy a new car from the factory that is strip ready and will run in the low 9 second range at over 140 mph. All the new 2012 Chevy Camaro COPO's are already sold (69 only being built this year) and they sell in the $90k range.
