Just received a phone call soliciting donations for Florida Highway Patrol death benefits, etc. The FHP is OK with these solicitations but when questioned as to how much actually ends up with FHP members the poor little girl had to look it up and it is "about 15%".
Any organization that keeps 85% for expenses is a scam. It shouldn't be over 10%. In my estimation the FHP is complicit in this scam as well.

Quite sure the Florida Highway Patrol has excellent death benefits built into their contracts, thank you very much.

From what I've read, these calls are from regular tele marketers and the person calling has no connection to the FHP. I'm suprised she said 15%.. I've heard as little as 5%.

It's that time of year these scammers are calling TV residence. Don't be tricked into getting their warrantee stick with TV contractors list that you received at closing

I have received calls in CT for Police Organizations to soliicit funds. I used to isten to their spiel but now I don't as I know they are hired telemarkerers. I say, "I am not able to donate at this time", and hang-up with no reservations.

I only donate to charities that almost all of the money goes to what it is intended for.

I agree. I give to who I want, when I want.
Will not talk to people on the phone about a "contribution."
Just politely say no thank you and hang up.
