I read on here that Brownwood is actually located in Wildwood. Are the new Villages homes that are being built in that area also in Wildwood? (In other words, is their mailling address "The Villages, Florida" or "Wildwood, Florida"? )

I believe all the homes in Lake County are in the town of Lady Lake. Also, I believe mail can be addressed to either The Villages or Lady Lake, FL.

There might be a Town/City of Wildwood property tax impact tho.

I live in Sumter County but all my mail comes through the Lady Lake post office. I will still get mail if the address on the envelope says The Villages but you won't find my house on a GPS if you list the city as The Villages. You have to have the city as Lady Lake. Confusing!

My understanding is that your home is technically a part of the town/area (that is, Lady Lake, Summerville, Oxford, Wildwood, Lake Sumter unincorporated, etc.) and you do pay city/county taxes as appropriate (all one bill). So, if the property was considered a part of Lady Lake or unincorporated Sumter County or wherever, that land is still associated with that area.

Reality is that you live in The Villages regardless of your address or zip code. Even if your zip is 32159, you will as easily get your mail if someone sends it to Lady Lake, FL 32159 or The Villages, FL 32162. It's the nature of this beast. The same should hold true for those living south of 466A.

We all live in The Villages, regardless what county you pay your taxes. Yes all your mail will be coming out of Lady Lake. Using your zip plus four is very helpful in getting your mail on time, especially with automation today. Machines actually read your address, and direct it to your home if you use zip plus four.

Looking at the GIS map of Sumter County it appears that few if any homes will be within Wildwood. The new town square will be in the city limits as well as The Atrium Dells shopping area.

A friend who is a postal worker told me that all mail these days is sorted by zip code, not by address. City is only used if the zip code doesn't work. I just wish they'd lose all the junk mail.

any home in TV can use TV as their return home "town/city"...... as correctly stated above the real controller is the zip code.

I have been submitting address changes to memberships and subscriptions. I've discovered that our street address has a plus four of 3222 in the USPS database. (Old address is still valid, we only want selected mail to go to TV for now.)

No junk mail = no postal system.

Unfortunately, so true. There should be an 'opt out' system like the no call register or my preference would be anything addressed to occupant, etc. be put in the trash at the post office before I see it and do the same. That way the PO can still get paid for it and they won't have to go to the trouble of sorting and delivering. Should be easy with their scanner system.

I live in Buttonwood which is in Wildwood technically. My address is The Villages. Fl 32162

I guess if they addressed it to wildwood it would get to me also. All of our mail comes through the Villages Branch of the post office so I guess that is the reason for the address.:girlneener:

Interesting. I just looked up Wildwood's zip and its 34785. They must have some sort of special agreement.

There is an opt out system for mail:
