View Full Version : Is there a song that you could consider ....
a sort of theme of your life, at least so far?
WE ARE FAMILY by Sister Sledge works for me....for now, in a few minutes it could be another song....though they're talking about themselves, I consider all I know, family.

Strawberry Fields Forever (living is easy with eyes closed), I Fought The Law, Desolation Row, and My Bed is Gettin' Crowded by the Fugs (ok, that was a joke)

When my wife and I first met, Roy Orbison's Pretty Woman was popular and became "our song". It still is.

But, aside from SFF, this comes closest to the mark:
"Myxomatosis"
The mongrel cat came home
Holding half a head
Proceeded to show it off
To all his new found friends
He said I been where I liked
I slept with who I like
She ate me up for breakfast
She screwed me in a vice
But now
I don't know why
I feel so tongue-tied
I sat in the cupboard
And wrote it down real neat
They were cheering and waving
Cheering and waving
Twitching and salivating like with myxomatosis
But it got edited f*cked up
Strangled beaten up
Used in a photo in Time magazine
Buried in a burning black hole in Devon
I don't know why I feel so tongue-tied
Don't know why
I feel
So skinned alive.
My thoughts are misguided and a little naive
I twitch and I salivate like with myxomatosis
You should put me in a home or you should put me down
I got myxomatosis
I got myxomatosis
Yeah no one likes a smart ass but we all like stars
But that wasn't my intention, I did it for a reason
It must have got mixed up
Strangled beaten up
I got myxomatosis
I got myxomatosis
I don't know why I
Feel so tongue-tied

Used to be "Rainy Days and Mondays" by the Carpenters but since I retired, Mondays don't matter any more!

I thought I was the only person who lost track of what day it is after retirement! I tell my son, everyday is summer vacation when you're retired.

How many people in the world know the fugs? My favorite was slum goddess from the lower east side! But not to hijack the post, I would pick People by Barbara Streisand, A little piece of my heart by Janice, Lather by the Airplane, Tangled up in blues by Dylan.

Not bad, thanks for the link. It has a good beat and I like the words, "I feel the spirit moving over me. There are clouds beneath my feet."
And, "When vegans attack on ten speed bikes." I guess that means we are in good physical condition.

Our wedding song was For All We Know by the Carpenters. It fit us perfect. We didn't really know each other because we met in a bar/restaurant and two weeks later we were married. We have been married 28 years.

Sure I know the Fugs. I once saw Ed Saunders deliver a poetry reading. That was different. How about "Kill for Peace"?
But, no. The song that has described my life is "Across the Universe", although I have always said that John Sebastian wrote the soundtrack of my life.
