6 movies are opening here in the Villages on October 5, 2012. Either they are getting rid of a lot of the older ones this Friday, or we are going to have 24 screens in the Villages.
Quite a distance now though from Brownswood to Spanish Springs Town Square so I would assume they will have some of the same movies playing at both of these theaters. Taken 2 which opens on Friday Oct 5, 2012 for instance will probably do extremely well considering how well the first one did at Spanish Springs a few years ago.
On the subject of movies in the Villages, Rachael Ballou is going to have to take extra sessions to describe the Hits and Misses of the Weekend Villages movie theater box office takes. She usually does this every Monday morning on the Villages' radio station.

Went by Brownwood Saturday afternoon and it is hard to tell if the buildings are all completed. There was a police car driving around so we did not want to risk a problem. Quite a bit of landscape work going on around the outside perimeter. New firehouse is open and I do not recall anything in the paper about that. Interesting article in the Leesburg Daily Commercial today about Brownwood.

Barnstorm Theater's Facebook page has their prices listed as of yesterday or so. Same prices as the other Villages theaters. Whoever posts for the theater on Facebook is quite coy about giving the opening dates.
"Admission Prices
Bargain Matinee: All seats for all shows beginning before 4:00pm is $7.25
The Villages Resident Discount: with each valid Resident ID Card presented at the box office is $6.75 at all times
Children Ages 3-11 are $6.25 at all times
Seniors 55+ and Students are $7.25 at all times." from their Facebook page posted September 6, 2012.
They have trailers posted for Argo and Seven Psychopaths.

I plead ignorance, but where exactly is Brownwood? I am located around the Fresh Market area and usually only get to Colony. Where from Colony? Thanks.

Go down Buena Vista south to the end. Brownwood is on your right. Can't miss it. It's not open yet, so you can't drive into it.

Thank you ............ will get the urge to go see it sometime and will definitely wait until after the opening hoopla is over and done with.
I am sure, knowing TV, it's going to be magnificent and will be great for the surrounding residents to have somewhere safe to enjoy in the evenings.

For what it is worth, both Argo and Seven Psychopaths have national opening dates of 10/12/2012. Does this mean the Barnstorm Theater is opening on 10/12?

Went to the Barnstorm to see Atlas Shrugged II on 10/13/12. Not much open on the square yet, but there will be a City Fire restarurant. There was a stand open selling burgers, hot dogs, et cetera, and of course the two bars on the square were in full swing! In the band/dance area, there are bleachers, and it looks like they also put out chairs as more people arrive.
The Barnstorm building is very nice, with an "old west" theme for the decor. We really liked the theatre we were in. Very comfortable seats, and on either side against the wall, the lower seats (closest to the screen) had only two seats per row, which is kind of cool, depending on where you like to sit. Nice leg room also.
There are also seats on the "floor" like the Old Mill, but not as many.
Overall, a great experience.

lots of people in the square. Had a good feel but since nothing is open but the theater and the restrooms are very small its going to take awhile. We have been down three time now and feel very comfortable there, Once resturants open it will improve, hope things will stay open past 9pm, I bet lots of people like us stay up later and would love to get a small plate after 9pm

The theator is fun! LOVE all the schotzkies...some of which I used to have but got rid of to move here (the purging thing to down-size). We saw "Atlas Shrugged"...a really good movie that gives one much to think about. We liked the stadium seating. As always, the Morse family has done an excellant job! Can't wait for the square to be built out!!!

Barnstorm is so poorly run...it was a mess from the purchase of our tickets right up until the movie TRIED to start! We were given the wrong tickets so we had to wait for some girl with her gum pierced (yes, her GUM as in teeth!) to try and figure out how to refund them. Then in the concession area, we were told there is no unsalted popcorn, our hot dog was cold on the inside and the soda tasted like carbonated water. More refunds from gum lady...THEN the movie we went to see (Argo) didn't play..it was another movie they got mixed up. What a mess over there and it seems to be run by teenagers. Decor is nice but I'm not paying to see that...

Just a quick question...Why is it that this theater can not get better movies?
Just wasted my money and time seeing the newest addition "Movie 43". If you have anything else better to do like hitting your head with a hammer do it. It would feel better and be more entertaining.

Not sure how it's the theaters fault that you did not research a movie that you went to see ???? I believe most of us do a little research on a movie, BEFORE we go see it.... You know..trailers, reviews, word of mouth, etc.

It would even be nicer if the management could figure out how to program the movies! Not only did we have the wrong movie on the screen but the lights were on for the entire wrong show and no one could figure out how to turn them off! The seats were sticky and it looked like no one cleaned the theater between movies. We asked for a refund because it was the wrong movie and they wouldn't give it to us.

On the Barnstorm movie website this movie was described as a raucous comedy with a cast of some of Hollywoods biggest stars. Enough to peak the
interest of any movie goer familiar with the likes of Haley Barry, Hugh Jackman, Dennis Quade and so on. The only online movie trailer I was able to locate was actually of the last bit of the film that due to sound issues did
not reveal how racist it was going to be. Lesson learned... do not go opening
night. Till you walk in someones shoes do not presume how they fit.Not sure how it's the theaters fault that you did not research a movie that you went to see ???? I believe most of us do a little research on a movie, BEFORE we go see it.... You know..trailers, reviews, word of mouth, etc.

If you like movies, you should check out the website, Rotten Tomatoes (Movies | Movie Trailers | Reviews - Rotten Tomatoes (http://www.rottentomatoes.com)). You can check out what critics and viewers think of the movie you want to see and watch a trailer, too. Usually, there are plenty of critic's reviews prior to opening night at most theaters so you should get a pretty good idea about how good the movie may be. At the very least, you'll get enough information to decide for yourself if it's a movie you'd like to see (since the critics aren't always "right").
Just for example, Movie 43 received a rating of 5 out of 100 from the critics. That right there pretty much tells you to save your money.
