Repair/replace the push/pull water lines on toilets/icemaker line?

The water line to the ice maker in the refrigerator is a long hose with a 1/4" nut at the refrigerator connection and the other end is crimped at the push/pull knob. At the crimp there is now a slow drip and no way to tighten...and no obvious way to replace the hose connection.

How does one deal with these permanent type line connectors that leak?

I had all them replaced with standard shutoffs when I built. NOW one suggestion you might try is putting a small hose clamp, those with the worm gear and tighten it down. You might have to cut off the hose and the clamp and then re-clamp it with the hose clamp.

I think this will do no harm so I would turn off the water, cover the area around the leak with an epoxy type glue. You could also get some plastic tape and wrap the pipe. If that works I would probably cover it with a water proof glue just to be sure.

the refrigerator is a GE....the problem is not at the fridge connect....it is the connection to the on/off valve.

I fixed the leak by letting super glue run from the top, down around to the bottom of where the hose goes into the crimped material.

I am still going to pursue how one replaces these things.....ya never know!!

I also like the alternative of using a hose clamp...that too is a workable repair.

I'd stay away from using any glue that water would come into contact with and then eventually get into the drinking system or ice maker. Reason I say this is I had a friend a long time ago that tried to repair a loose filling with super glue and got a massive mouth infection.
