I close on a CYV into St. James on the 30th (yeah!).

1. Once moved in, I want to add a large hot tub (with LEDs and tiny waterfall) under a large birdcage (with colored Chinese lamps and a weatherproof flat screen)...any recommendation on businesses to contact?

2. The cement courtyards are uglier than sin. Opinion n...would it be possible to have a raised wood walkway with raised planters filled with flowers, native grasses and some herbs all lit up at night with soft blue green LEDS. Possible? Legal? If "yes," recommended contractors?

Cheers!

No. It's a big boat and an old guy with a beard is hanging around it trying to get pairs of animals to get on. Been a lot of rain.

Sorry. Couldn't help myself.

Is that all going in the front or the back? I'm think in the back would be okay, but I don't really know a think about it.

I actually think it sounds cool in a trippy sort of way.

Now thats a dream come true, neighbors having a bird cages with a flat screen TV to share with the neighbors just over the wall. As far as herbs, you have had enough.

It can be done easy, the ARC is very simple just sketch out what you want to on a site plan and they will tell you if all is ok or what changes U need to do.

The spot U want to put, is there a window within 5'?

Is there bird cage now or do U need to build that also.

the tub sounds like you are putting above ground, so U really need to buy one and have it delivered.

Need an electrician, to run the 110 or 220 with gfi breaker and shut off at least 5' away, I just went thru this thing for a spa.

handles on bird cage need to be 54" hi, all other doors and windows going into the the area need a buzzer alarm system, cheap one from HD will do.

Let me know if U have any other questions.

I'm thinking a lava lamp might be a nice touch.

All good information...thanks!

BTW - before I put anything next to a neightbor's window...I'd want an OK...this is my property..but, a shared view and I respect the desires of those I live next to...assuming they are not 500 pounds of crazy.

The issue is not your neighbors window it's yours, if it is located within 5' it must be tempered glass.

If you want the cost estimates I received on some of these things let me know

ARC - architectural review committee?

Sorry, ignorant newbie here.

Anytime you want to make an exterior change you have to get the blessings of the architectural review committee.

Look on page 7 of the Villages telephone book for an explanation of the ARC.

How about those speakers where the colored lights flash with the music.

And to think that all I want are a few light up animated pink flamingos.

Hey - I give good party.....seriously, when I get settled, I'll post an open house....you bring the wine, I'll smoke the chicken and good veggies on the grill with olive oil...some garlic bread...lettuce and fruit salad...if we have musicians..bring your guitars...or a bad version of Lady of Spain on accordian...a group soak in the hot tub....maybe some big pads of paper to play "The Exquisite Corpse" (google it..a fun and revealing art game). I can't wait 'til I move down. Summer vacation 24/7...365!

I just ran the idea passed Rada, the wonder cat...she flipped on her back and meowed....a sign of feline approval...or is it a request for a belly scratch...or maybe...both.

Geewiz -

Where in St James is your new CYV? I closed on mine on Black Oak Lane on Sept 5th. Personally, i would LOVE sitting under a large birdcage with colored Chinese lamps, soft blue green LEDS, and herbs. Gosh.....sounds just like what i did in the 60's!! Please add me to your party list!!

In all seriousness, thanks to all for your good humor and advice. Despite my employment history with the Feds (eck! in systems and sercurity/integrity...yes, I busted folks), I've always worked in the arts and with artists. We always respected the power of creativity and imagination to pull folks together. Ultimately, "scenes" are created by the folks who show up and work to make them...but, a nice environment is a good facilitator. That said, if any of you are up for drinks at Katie Belles where I can further steal ideas from you...well, that would be great. Maybe next Wednesday? Think of it this way..what we create together...we enjoy together. Let me know if anyone is game. Gary
