Has very little to do with the Disney Snow White story of decades ago. Lord of the Rings mixed with Twilight with a dash of some Joan of Arc movie.
Very entertaining and has probably the best villainness in the movies so far this year in the Dark Queen played by Charlize Theron.

I sat in front of Ms. Theron at a Radiohead show a few years ago. She was a wee bit liqoud and was singing.
Loud. And more than a bit off key.
I turned around and said, "Hey Monster, wanna keep it down?"
She gave me that evil look later used in the movie. If she wins the Oscar, you can thank me.

:agree: Charlize Theron was excellent. Kristin Stewart not so much -- don't know what all the fuss is about her, but then again I haven't watched the "Twilight" series.

Kristin Stewart plays about the same kind of character in the Twilight movies as well. Her acting is very popular with the teens who are in love with the Twilight books. Cannot really say I get the popularity of the Twilight books. Then again I am past 50 so that may play a role.
Jennifer Lawrence is a great actress who is also in a one movie so far with another book series very popular with our younger book readers. The Hunger Games. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jennifer_Lawrence Loved her in Winter's Bone.
I do find Hunger Games books a lot better than I had first thought. They actually have some depth and reality to them. The heroine becomes the politicians' football; seems to happen in real life too.

What a waste of 2 hours. I am glad I got it from my NetFlix account and did not pay real $$$ to see it.

Chacun a son gout.
Monster alluded to by another poster is a much deeper movie with Charlize Theron as a villainness. She plays a real life serial killer who terrorized FL highway reststops in 1989-1990. The movie tries to make the killer understandable in her motivations and actions. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0340855/

That is true. Otherwise all movies would be academy award winners or garbage.

:agree: with you about Jennifer Lawrence -- she was excellent in both The Hunger Games and Winter's Bone. She is one to watch in the future, and is a much better actress than Kristin Stewart. I would not be surprised if she picked up another Academy Award nomination for her portrayal of Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games. I am really looking forward to the second installment of The Hunger Games movie trilogy which is to be released around Thanksgiving 2013.
