Closing Documents

Got to cleaning out some files today and discovered a large stack of copies of documents that we signed at closing 8 years ago. Contracts, estimates, mortgage stuff, etc. What is necessary to keep and when can it be discarded? Thanks

Best thing to do is check with your tax preparer.

I usually keep all documents pertaining to a property I currently own. When I sell it they can go too although I still have some from years ago that I don't need (time to start shredding for the downsizing). Depends on if you need them for accounting/tax purposes or not to establish a basis.
