View Full Version : What could this be - bumps, but no itching?

I can feel little bumps on the inside of my dogs back legs. He doesn't scratch. He is low to the ground so I thought it was probably the grass coming in contact with skin causing a contact dermatitis. He had been on a number of medications before and all his problems he had at that time cleared up. But once off the medication he has it again. I prefer not to keep him on medicines if I can avoid it. It does not seem to bother him, as he does not scratch nor chew at all. Any suggestions other than avoiding grass?

I always heard the treats for dogs/cats that have a lot of preservatives can cause bumps etc on the animals skin.. Especially semi moist food... bad for animals.

For treats, I always use some kibble form of good food. Currently I am using FROMM as the "treat" and I feed the dogs raw meat (Nature's Variety) with rehydrated (Preference) veggies. I feel better knowing that the food I am giving them is nutritionally balanced and they think of the kibble as a treat and look forward to the one or two little bits. Also a good training size. This way I avoid all the "treats" that I have found often contain things that create problems, both digestive and/or skin related.
I see it as sort of the same as giving carrots or some nuts to the children as a treat rather than candy, and I don't have to deal with peer group pressure or TV commercials that entice them.
