Golf cart, 2 or 4 seater?

New to TV and looking to buy a new golf cart. The question is buy a 2 or 4 seater. Thinking of a 4 seater so when company comes we can all go together or when 3 people want to go together somewhere. Thought of a rental for company, but it is almost impossible to get a rental in high season.:laugh:

A four seater gives you more flexibility. The only downside is they are a little longer so parking is sometimes a bit harder. We rented a cart for our daughter and son-in-law in early February this year. We went to the Villages GC store in Colony Plaza on a Wednesday and rented for that weekend. They had plenty to choose from.

We are renting this month and have a 4 seater. My complaint about it is that when the golf club adapter is on, it gets in the way of the people sitting in the back, and when you are putting your clubs on for golf, you must lift them up and over to get them in the holder. For someone like me who is vertically challenged, it's a real PIA! We went to an open house last week and the golf cart there was a four seater, but when you lifted the back seat up, it converted to a "regular" golf cart configuration and was MUCH nicer than what I'm describing that we have. It's the only one I've seen like that, but there must be others. I'd opt for that in a heartbeat!

I have a Polaris "Breeze" golf cart. It has a flip down rear facing seat for when company comes and it is a regular 2 seater when the seat is flipped up.

We have one of each. Hubby has a 2 seater for golf, etc and I have a 4 seater to take friends with me. When I play golf the adapter is easy to handle and does not stick out too far either for parking. It is a club car from out on 441. We both played golf this morning(he with the guys, me with the gals) It is great to have my independence with one of my own.

The "flip seats" can retrofit most golf carts for those that want a 4 seat cart. IMHO the "flip seat" is the way to go! Personally, I don't care to ride backwards on a cart-----gives me a sick feeling-----but doesn't bother others.

How often do you antipate having company that a 4 seater would be better than versus renting? I get the high season difficulty in renting, but for the cost differential of the 4 seater versus the 2, you would be able to rent a heck of a lot of golf carts.........

We prefer a 2 seater. When my sister and her hubby visits we always rent one for the week. That way the boys can go out golfing and us girls can go shopping.

It is true, some of my friends object to riding backwards in my club car.

How much do those rear seats cost v renting a cart for company?

When the company leaves you still need to lug that empty seat, along with your cart being bigger/longer PIA to maneuver.

I was quoted $75 a week for a rental a few weeks ago.

I wanted a 4 seater for company but hubby wanted a 2 sweater for parking. He won! We have spent quite a bit on rentals over the past year as we have had a lot of visitors. After trying 5 or 6 rental companies we definitely recommend Grandma and Grandpas (Vilkage Buggies). I would recommend that whatever you decide on, get it all done when you get your cart. We went back to TV Golf carts to talk about adding a flip up back seat and found to do it properly it would cost about $1500 more. If you just stick the seat back there it will not be covered by a roof and you will lose the use of your rear curtains. (Gets pretty cold down here in Dec.). I have seen a club cart with a rear seat that looks pretty handy but we chose Yamaha. Also the after market seats seem a little narrow and a little easy to slip off of. Check them all out and get what you think suits you! We also got upgraded seats and are glad we did! We spend a LOT of time in our cart!

When you add an after market flip seat, don't you also have to do something to compensate for the added weight of the passengers? It seems to me we were told that the suspension(?) had to be changed. I might not have the terminology correct, but I thought there was more to it than simply adding a seat.

Rentals are good for visiting company, but may not be able to keep up with a regular cart, even to the legal 19.9 speed. The governors seem to be regulated to a very slow speed on the rentals (for good reason, but annoying when trying to cover ground between the Squares).

I was playing golf Thursday at Mallory and the group in front of us had stopped moving. When we walked up to see why, the fellow had his 4 seater cart stuck on top of a hill, so a couple of us had to push him back to get his cart unstuck. The cart is so long that the wheels were up off the ground.

With a four seater you can do all the driving for your friends and neighbors that only have a 2 seater.
We have a 2 seater as most our friends do.
