Can anyone clue me in on performance of Star golf carts

I've had mine for about 1 year now and still love it. I bought it on the recommendation of my next door neighbor who had his for 2 years. Mine has the fold down rear seat so it's great when the grandkids visit. I have no problem with the range of the cart. I often go from south of 466A to 441 and back and still have plenty of charge left. The cart has been very reliable, so I can't really comment on their service because I haven't had to use them to fix anything. The only concern I have is that I'm not sure that my rear lights are easily visible when the rear seat is up. But, I make sure I use very obvious hand signals, so it's really not a problem. So, bottom line, I think you get a lot of cart for the money and I would recommend them.

I have recently compared a Star car & a Par car. They are both nice carts, however I found the ride of the Par smoother. As for performance I would have to of owned one.
I also found that the Star car is made in China (look at the plate that has the serial #) The sales person will tell you it is 70% US made.
For the money I think a Star car is a nice cart.

We have had a gas Yamaha for 2 1/2 years. We bought a Star as a second cart this past May. Two neighbors have them ant recommeded them. We now use the Star cart the most. It gets excellent milage, going about 30+ miles using less than 1/2 the charge. The regenerative braking in the golf course mode is great. After a round the charge seems to have gone up. We got the rear fold-down seats. The grand kids like that feature. The cart came with seatbelts both front and rear. The price was several thousand less than a ParCar. The dealers are also great. Haven't needed service yet, but I'm sure it will also be great.

Our STAR cart is 4 years old. We have been delighted with it - especially like the fold down back seat. It is still peppy after 4 years and has had no issues. Our only costs have been the annual maintenance and a light bulb.

Regenerative Braking
Some golf carts use regenerative breaking, which is an expensive option initially but may save you money on your electric golf cart maintenance in the long run. Regenerative braking, much like a hybrid engine in a car, charges the electric battery in the cart every time you brake. This, in turn, allows the battery to run with more consistent power and give the golf cart a bit more pep when you are using it. However, regenerative braking entails more parts, which may entail more upkeep and money.

I have a very good friend who has a Star Cart and "swears" by it. It is a 2010. I borrowed it once (for the back seat) and found it to be about the same as our electric Club Cart.

Where are the dealers located that sell the Star car?

In The Villages, the Star Dealer is located in the shopping center just south of Rolling Acres Road, and just west of US 27/441. It is near Best Buy, and across 27/441 from Sam's Club and Home Depot.

I wish to correct an earlier post in which I said my 2010 Star Car was made in North Carolina. I double-checked, and the plate says it was made in Greenville, South Carolina. My point was and is that it is U.S. made, not Chinese, as I have seen claimed.
