I am unsure of the point system and how it works. I know if you reserve a tee off time you get a point which stays for a week. Someone told me that, if I walk on to a course without a reservation and the starter can fit me in at random, it does not count as a point. Is this true? Also, someone else told me if I play after 5. O'clock , no points are added. Is this true?

Tommy, I would also suggest you try to attend one of the "Good Golf" sessions held periodically at Colony Cottage Rec Center. Sue and I have played for many years and we still got a lot of good info not only about the point system, but just about golfing in TV in general.

Tom, I believe that if you just show up at the starters shack and the starter can fit you in, he still enters you in the system and you still get charged a point. Same for playing after 5pm.

"Reservation points are awarded to all tee times on the championship courses until 4:00pm and the executive courses until 90 minutes before dusk." These apply whether you are a walkon or not.

Points are a record of your play over the last 7 days...you are assigned a point for each round you play. The more points you accumulate over a given time makes it less likely for you to get your desired tee time when you make a request. Doing it this way makes it easier for those who don't play as often to get their desired time and course.

And if you make a reservation and don't show up or cancel correctly you are given penalty points.

It is about as fair as you can make it...and I think a brilliant idea.

Seems like requesting a time early should get you some kind of credit - even if it's a 1/2 point credit.

I can understand this on the free exec. courses. But I would have thought on the champ courses where you pay, the people who come out more often would be rewarded. They are keeping them in business.

For championship golf courses the order of priority is priority paid golfers 4-3-2-1- in that order, then priority and their guests, then priority and residents and then residents. Points count only as if all the above have already been applied. What appears out of order is that priority and guest come before priority and residenrts. I say this because residents have heavily invested in this community whereas guests have no skin in the game.

for executive courses (aka/free golf) After you pay youir $142 anual trail fees and hvae investedin the monthly $8.00 charge to set up tee times you are also heavily guarded by the point system. Each time you scedule a tee time it counts as a point beginning three days bewfore you are scheduled to play. If you cancel then yopu are given 2 points. If you always walk you can avoid trail fees. In prime season points are critical. i played with a guy on Monday that told me his group each has 5 points and they got bumped both Mondays andWednesday. so he went on line and picked up any opening.

Free golf the rest of your life is subject to interpretation. Also remeber the developer slots teetimes for lifestyle people and also renters and their guest can also play. There is going to be a lot of bumping this winter
