My 2009 yamaha cart will occasionally backfire when you come to a complete stop after running it for a long distance. What causes this? Dealer says it needs a rebuilt carburetor (not under warranty). It did this when it was new and dealer did an adjustment. Seemed to fix it, but now it is doing it again. Any thoughts?

Backfiring is a common problem with gas carts and most times can be corrected with adjustments on carb, timing and accelerator.
Today's gas has bio-fuel that leaves a residue in the carb and could build up to a point that may also result in backfires.
So called carb rebuilding is accomplished by professionals by removing the carb dismantling it and removing all seals and gaskets. The metal parts are soaked overnight in a thick acid solution, rinsed and then reassembled. That process removes all of the residue from the unit and should restore it back to normal. This process is simple for professionals and not expensive.
