Does anyone on this thread go to Lady Lake Family Practice on 466? On their sign (it's new) it was posted that Sylvia Wallace's last day is today. A phone call was made...they wouldn't say where she's going, but that she'll still be in The Villages! Gosh I wish providers would stay...and if they don't why can't the personnel offer where they're going (or where they went)??
Sad to hear about this...but glad she's remaining in the area. :sigh:

I hope if you find out where she is, you will post it. I want to go where she practices!

I've heard some beefs about medical care in TV, but I can't figure out what the problem is. This NP seems to have enthusiastic supporters. Does that mean she's an exception? We're looking for a home in TV, but the health care comments on TOTV have made us wonder just a bit. Any background info you can add to our decision-making process would be truly helpful. The idea of finding new doctors, etc., is always daunting. Thanks!

The idea of finding new doctors, etc., is always daunting. Thanks!I don't necessarily take the beefs I hear about medical care too seriously, even though there is some good information being given. Villages is made up of people from all walks of life and a lot of them are intelligent individuals with strong opinions, but with that comes a few that could be providing misleading or inaccurate impressions.

Also, there comes the high probability of there being few medical providers where there isn't at least one negative opinion out there about them that could generate an expressed beef. For instance, the first doctor I had when moving here I didn't like for a number of reasons. At the same time, I've seen several people who spoke highly of him and no others expressing negative comments. I could have been one of those potential people that posted a beef about him, but I wasn't!

At first I had the same impression as you have from the posts on this forum, but here more than a year later, I feel differently. I feel strongly that you may feel the same way after some time here.

Now, I don't get excited about much, but I'm beginning to feel good about the new Villages Health System where a new facility is almost ready to open across from the Colony Plaza. My wife and I will be moving to them once they're opened.

Rather than give you my perspective on it, here is a link to their web page so you can build your own. I'll also give you the link to a YouTube presentation that I found interesting. I suggest you view the video first then explore the website:

Word of mouth sometimes is a help. Like SkyGuy....I had an experience with one doctor who LOTS of folks raved about (even on this link). BUT I didn't have a very good experience with her. It could have been personalities or it may have just been me!

That being said though she has been an exception for me here. Before my 1st app't's I will google their name and look at more than one site to see where they got their education and if there are any "checks" againest them. In this case, I can't remember if I got any red flags or not.

Sky Guy, thanks for your thoughtful and reassuring reply, plus the bonus links. Like it or not, many of us are part of the "high maintenance" crowd, as someone here so rightly put it, and the availability of good health care is a must wherever we live. I've had eight surgeries since I retired, and aside from a knee replacement, all were unanticipated. Thanks for any and all input on health care in TV. It really helps.
