Any one know the best way to clean lanai screens? In the new section of the Villages with many open construction sites, our lanai screens are extremely dirty with wind blown sand and clay. Any easy way to keep them clean?

Any easy way to keep them clean?A power washer, but be careful not to use the highest pressure setting. If you don't have a power washer, there are dozens of providers in The Villages that provide power washing.

Squirt 'em good with one of the good household cleaners and hose 'em down. Follow with clean rags. Careful of brushes.

Most of us have lived with new construction and we know how DIRTY things get.:grumpy:

But on the plus side, They build out so fast it usually is just a memory in about six months.:thumbup:

A quick spray and hose 'em off. Should be no real need for a cloth follow-up. I agree, of course, with GG ... be careful using any kind of brush.

My experience is that you have to be careful of any broom but that a brush like one used to brush bugs from the eves works well. I spray them down , brush both sides and respray. A heavier brush can pull the screen out of the channel

Enclose and make a Florida/TV room. You won't regret it.

Soft bristle brush and a hose always works for my husband. There are brushes you can purchase on extension poles at Wal-mart or I believe Sam's may sell them in the auto departments. They are VERY soft and won't damage the screens if you are gentle. Then just wipe down the horizonal support post when done. Don't forget to hose off the floor also, all that new construction dirt will be tracked into your home if you don't.

...rinse dirty screen using a garden hose...

.......put a gallon of White Vinegar in a bucket.
........rub a vinegar soaked cheap flat sponge up and down and back and forth all over the screen.

If you listen carefully you can hear the vinegar do its cleaning.

.......wait a couple of minutes for the vinegar to do its work.
Rinse off the vinegar ( and dirt ) with garden hose sprayer.

Then, use just the open ended hose ( without the sprayer ) to rinse the
screen sideways from top to bottom. Run the water over the screen like a waterfall. (river)
