View Full Version : Thief! Thief! Thief! I am exaggerating a little bit.

Had to drive my mother's car to get gas at the Shell on CR466 and pick up some donuts and other stuff at that Publix this Halloween morning.

I rarely drive my Mom's car so I am not used to the various special features like the key chain unlock with its anti-theft device.

So, I am done buying groceries but forget that you have to first click the key chain before trying to open the car door with the key.

I turn the key and all hell breaks lose. On goes the alarm which I cannot figure out how to turn off at the moment.

Heads turn including some good Samaritan playing Cat Woman who brings out the Publix police in the guise of a Halloween made up Frankenstein.

The horn has stopped but now I cannot get the car started and Frankenstein is closing in.

I try to think myself out of this predicament.

What would a calm cool collected person do? Have to remember that Frankenstein is getting closer and closer after being alerted by Cat Woman.

No longer see Cat Woman. She must be watching from the Publix window to see if she nabbed a Car Thief.

I think maybe I should push the button another time on the unlock feature of the key chain.

That just starts the alarm again and has also brings a Dracula out of the Publix sliding doors.

Now I am in real trouble. Dracula and Frankenstein coming. At least, there is no Mummy.

I try pushing the button a few more times and bingo; the radio turns on to my Mom's favorite Villages radio station.

Before Frankenstein actually gets to my Mom's car I discover that I can and will take the donuts to my parent's breakfast rather than to that of the cops or perhaps to that of Dracula and Frankenstein.

(I am taking huge poetic license with this story).

LOL - So . . . What happened?

Got the donuts home and left Frankenstein and Dracula in the dust.

Publix employees do often wear costumes on Halloween. I have seen some rather creative ones.

I am making some of this up though to make it funnier to tell.

Suppose the lady who thought I was stealing the car is to be commended. A Publix employee did come out and check on the "car thief" but just made some comment about "new car" and turned around.

Of course there was no Mummy, you left her home! If you had only brought your Mummy with you, you would have avoided the whole horrifying ordeal! :1rotfl:

Tal. I love it when you take poetic license. It is always best to embellish a story a bit. My children say they can hardly wait to get home from an event with me to see what "really" happened.

I really only saw what I take it were a couple of cowgirl costumes at Publix. There was no others in any kind of costumes. No Dracula. No Frankenstein and no Mummy.

They could have other costumes on now at Publix. I have seen a wide variety at the Villages' Publixes on Halloweens.

Donna's probably flying around this Halloween somewhere.

I found an interesting headline and article in today's newspaper; is it just a coincidence?

Headline: Villages Man Arrested For Car Theft Claims Poetic License

A Villages man was arrested on Halloween night for auto theft but later released as it was discovered the car belongs to his mother and she agreed not to press charges. She told reporters: "I don't know what's gotten into him lately but every time he gets into some mischief he claims poetic license."

It's amazing how similar the two stories are! :loco:
