Great Lunch after golf. Service was quick. Food was very good. Met the owner of both Evans Prairie and Bonifay. Great guy to talk to. Gave us his card with his cell number said to call anytime if we needed anything.
He picked up our bar tab of 3 pitchers of beer.

We had an early dinner there yesterday and I have noting negative to say about it. The service was what I would expect. My wife had The Shank: Pork osso bucco covered in a savory caramel brandy sauce, served with yukon gold mash and chef’s vegetables. She found it totally enjoyable. I had the Bruschetta Steak Pasta: (4 oz) Filet mignon, extra virgin olive oil, bruschetta, goat cheese, and basil tossed with fettuccini and finished with a balsamic glaze drizzle. I too enjoyed what I ordered. The volume of food served was large enough that we both wound up taking a good portion home with us as well as skipping any desert! (sob :sigh:)

Just spoke to a friend who played Evans Prairie. He said that the front nine was a bit disappointing....it was wide open with not many trees. He said it looked like a municipal course. But he said the back nine was nice and reminded him of Bonifay. Has anyone else played it? Any reviews??

Back to the restaurant......3 of us went for dinner and all 3 meals were great. I had the meatloaf which was excellent. I was so busy enjoying it I didn't even notice what DW or friend had.:p Service, food and atmosphere were everything we hoped it would be. Will definitely be back many times.

We went to Evans Prairie three times now and the food was really good, service really good and so was the atmosphere. Had salads, the crab cheese dip appetizer and chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes and veggie. Can't wait to go back.

Hour and a half wait when we got there so we left. Too many other choices.
Looking forward to trying it though.
Happi; do you ever eat at home?
We had a good meal there recently too.

tried them for lunch this past Saturday.
Got there 11:45 am and no wait. Water and order came pretty quick.
Took more than 20 minutes for the food to come. ANd when it did my wife's fish sandwich was cold....nice grill marks but dead fish cold!!! Sent it back and I told her no microwave heat up, please bring a new one. Five minutes later she brings out the second one. She said we were lucky because an order just came up ( so then someone else was going to wait!). Lucky? The second one was no warmer than the first. I would have sent it back but was over ruled by my wife. She did not want to spend the afternoon trying to get a sandwich.
Our usual practice is to give an establishment a second try to see if we just hit a bad day.

Went to Evans Prarie for dinner last evening (11/12) and it was awful! The dinner portions were miniscule. I had Mahi Mahi and the other two with me had a chicken dish. The piece of fish looked like a Mrs. Pauls filet and the vegetables (brocolli and carrots) were as mushy and overcooked as any I have ever had in any restaurant. We had to pratically beg our well-meaning waitress for a few dinner rolls (we did order dinner entrees!) and she told us they only serve rolls with salad orders (how ridiculous). But she did bring us a few and tried her best to explain the "roll policy".
My martini came in a nice-size glass but it was only 3/4 full so I felt a bit cheated there. Suggestion--either fill the glass or use smaller glasses (and it wasn't cheap at $5.75). Customers want to feel they're getting their money's worth and this was by far my worse experience in The Villages.
I've been to all of the other Country Clubs and each has its own thing that they do rather well. But I saw nothing in my experience at Evans Prarie that was promoising. Granted it was only one trip so maybe (hopefully) they will improve. There are too many other Villages restaurants doing a much better job. They need to do a lot get to get there.

You must have had one of the few bad days here' We've been there several times since the soft opening started for both meals and cocktails. We've had nothing but good meals and full glasses at Evans Prarie and will continue to go back.

We love the meatloaf at Bonifay, but the variety and style of food is better at Evans Prairie, IMO.

We agree with you. We just took friends to lunch there. The decor is great, the view is nice except for construction but our meal was awful. The pull pork sandwich was cold and no barbque sauce on it...it was sent back and they gave us a new one. The fries were good. I ordered a spinach salad and the other lady orders the peach walnut salad. When it came out the dressing was strange. We ask about it and she brought us more...she said it was a citric dressing. I said I usually get hot bacon dressing with a spinach dressing....she said she would check. I did not read the menu properly and did call for an italian vinaigrette....she came back with some of that dressing and said...just put it on the salad with the old dressing and mix it. She did the same with the other girl and brought her the raspberry vinaigrette and said she mix it with the other dresssing. We both did not like the salads. We got bread but no butter. My spinach salad had lots of spinach and bacon but very few onions and mushrooms and I saw no egg at all. We were not pleased with our meal at all. I am glad the others are getting great meals ...we did not.

If you have a late tee time and don't finish before 5 a pitcher of beer is $12.00. That happened this past saturday but a 6 pm the bar was packed as was the restaurant. Dunning shaw was playing on the patio and the heaters made it very comfortable other than watching wisconsin lose to penn. State.

Coach, I had the pork sandwich too. Never had pulled pork with dill pickle. It overwhelmed the sandwich to the point it was not eatible. Pulled pork wasn't that great either. It was a thumbs down for e.

I have eaten at Evans Prairie twice. The food and the service are good but it is terribly expensive. We split an appetizer, a small salad and a small bowl of soup and it costs us $26.00. Why does it cost so much more than the other CCs? We will not be going back.

We have enjoyed the food, staff and atmosphere every time we have went so far. They may be trying to build a base of nice customers using such information as how you act, and overall attitude from interaction with the hostess and how and what you order.

We had dinner there a couple weeks ago. I had the mahi-mahi, which was just okay, with rice. The vegetables that came with it were so overcooked and mush that they were inedible. My husband had a sandwich and sweet potato fries, and the fries were excellent. If I go back I'll do a burger and fries. It was a cool night, but we sat out on the patio with a light jacket on and were comfortable with the heaters going. Entertainment was fantastic - Dunning Shaw. I'd go back to enjoy the entertainment, but I wouldn't say the dining is anything fantastic. We just played one nine of the golf course, and I found it wide open, and some of the holes kind of gimmicky. Not enough trees to make it pretty or interesting in my opinion. And right now, being a new course, the greens are hard as concrete, don't hold, and in the fairways the balls will roll forever, so you have no idea where you'll end up.

We had lunch there today and loved the ambiance. My huband enjoyed his key lime scampi and I had a ceasar salad which was good. The view was fantastic overlooking the marsh. I could see cranes, herons, and cormarants as I dined; of course they were some distance away but I enjoyed every minute. I wish someone would come up with an app that turns the camera on my i phone into a zoom lens. You can bet that I'll have my camera next time. Oh, our waiter Kevin was fantastic and the Manager agreed when we let him know how pleased we were. Where else can you take a cart ride on a beautiful day and enjoy incredible wildlife all around us. The workers were busy changing out the thousands of flowers as well. We're still living the dream.

Looked like a municipal course..no trees..wide open ...wind roars through there...greens nice...fairways dry and hard. Hitting into the wind will be challenging for all except the most seasoned players.

You can just tell by the way they write any response about any restaurant or any TV golf course who the *&&(&(*& are. They just don't like anything except 'fine dining' or 'country club' golf. Well guess what - there isn't any 'fine dining' in TV and the golf courses aren't Winged Foot or Pebble Beach.
There isn't one tree on the Old Course and many people consider it the best course in the world. So that isn't even a valid criticism. And yes you can't judge the fairways yet - give them a year or more. Evans Prairie has numerous vistas of protected marsh lands that give it a certain charm. And you know what? It isn't easy. I've played with guys who shoot 93 and then say it's too short. Laughable!
I have the same problem with people who won't play the execs out of golf snobbery. It's beneath them! That's a load of crap. Come play Pelican or Amberwood or Yankee and tell me it's easy. Bull!
Like Dennis Miller - that's tonight's rant!

We enjoy going to Evan's Prairie. The wait staff, bartenders, managers & owner are all very nice people. Everyone is always smiling. I love the bar & the view.
Most of the time when we go I get the Key Lime Shrimp. That is so yummy. Hubby usually gets the Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo.
Good drinks & drink prices !!

I haven't had their pulled pork yet, but Codys also puts pickle slices along with cole slaw on their pulled pork. it's delicious.

To support Russ' point I am going to be Debbie Downer and relate a terrible experience at Evans Prarie last night. Believe me I do not go out looking for fine dining, but I do
appreciate a decent meal. I ordered the chicken with balsamic glaze and it was dry and tasteless - the vegetable were nothing short of mushy. Two burgers were ordered and they were also disappointing along with cold fries. One party did order the pork shank and enjoyed it.
No I did not say anything to the manager because a)I don't return food to the kitchen 'cause I have grave concerns what happens to it there and b)wasn't worth my time. I just won't go back, but I'm sure it won't matter because they are packing them in. Just one person's opinion.
