This subject was brought up in another thread and I think it is time to bring it to the forefront in its own thread.

Past discussions have indicated a lot of people are unaware of Florida's open container law and some have indicated they do not believe the law applies to golf carts. Rather than summarize or trying to interperet the law I am providing a link to it here:

Statutes & Constitution :View Statutes : Online Sunshine (http://www.leg.state.fl.us/Statutes/index.cfm?mode=View%20Statutes&SubMenu=1&App_mode=Display_Statute&Search_String=open+container&URL=0300-0399/0316/Sections/0316.1936.html)

It has been stated on this forum that the police do not enforce this law. Never having tested the law, I cannot say whether it is enforced or not. However, there have been accounts here where enforcement has been witnessed.

Yes, I remember last year it was reported here that a gentleman got a ticket for sitting in his parked golf cart at the square with an open beer can.

I think everyone knows that there is a open-container law. However they do not enforce it at the squares.Never seen a ticket given. I have seen people pulled over for DWI.If you are drunk and in a cart sitting or driving Yes in a cart just sipping No.
