I was driving back to del mar area from the new car show at sumter square around 3:40 pm saturday. All of a sudden there is a young man with head phones on, in a golf cart passing everyone on the morse bridge. This guy was actualy in the opposing lane driving head on into carts coming the opposite way. I tried to follow this guy to let whoever loaned this cart to this menace that he not only almost caused a head on collision and blew through stop signs at the end of the golf cart path and was speeding and if thats how he treats the people in this community then he does not deserve to visit our community. The only thing i remember about this is that he had a set of head phones on and the cart had a white roof with a red dragon decal on the back edge of the roof. Very rude young man!!!!!!.

I think of rude as having lack of manners. This guy went far beyond that...He was a danger to himself and others. More and more I wish we had to have a way to nail people like that with some kind of a tag on our carts. But that brings up other enormous issues...who would be the authority to lower the boom?
I have to admit...I see something like that and I wonder...who let that kid have their cart????

The best solution to this problem is to carry a mini camera and post it on here. Maybe someone on here will recognize the individual.

Glad you noted this and posted it on TOTV. Maybe, the person he got this golf cart from will hear about this. Sounds like someone who is sure to raise the homeowner's insurance rates.

Don't automatically take this as an insult. Fact is that there are quite a few really bad and/or rude drivers here at all times and in the height of the snowbird season there are even MORE ALL AT ONCE.

The point is I don't think anybody was singling out "renters" just the increased population during the peak season and at the same time a good percentage of that peak populace are not familiar with the rules of the road. If you think anybody was casting aspersions at renters, you just read between the wrong lines.

No, it's not NY.......and if New Yorkers or ANYONE wants to contact an adult who would do something about an idiotic driver in the wrong lane, wearing headphones and going head-on toward carts in the oncoming lane on an already too-narrow bridge, then I'm with the New Yorker.
If this idiot had killed somebody, then you'd be complaining that nobody reported him to get him off the road.

The other day I was traveling East on Bonita Blvd, obviously in the golf car lane. I heard a car coming up behind me so I looked in the rear view mirror. The Car was overtaking me since she could go faster. She did not have any turn signals on. All of a sudden she took a Rt turn right in front of me. If I had not had very good brakes and reflexes I would have been badly injured. Was I in the wrong? I know cars always have the right of way but can they turn right in front of you with no signal? I am a bit afraid to drive the cart anymore. Please advise.

No You were not in the wrong....classic case of a stupid careless driver & we all know ya can't fix stupid. Unfortunately situations such as your will happen but it surely isn't the norm. Just always be alert, don't assume the auto driver will be looking out for you, use your blinkers as well as hand signals and enjoy the ride.

Whats notable is the "trols".!! When comments here get nicer, certain folks have to add nasty comments, to keep things confrontational. It's a beautiful day....go outside, take a deep breath and try to say something nice. If nothing else, it will help you "tolerate" the "renters" that you seem to have a problem with.

2. After that, you have to yank down their shorts and look for the big "RENTER"

Thank you. I have been here 2 1/2 years and am still trying to figure out the ways to drive safely around here. I think when people were doing what seemed to be renter bashing they may have just meant that those newer to TV do have a lot of figuring out to do. I think we made 73 u turns in the first week here. :gc: Be safe out there people. Take your dog off your lap, put down the cell phones, don't drink and drive (even from the squares) and keep a sharp eye out.

Pot is not the harmless past time you imply. Its direct affect on the brain can be devasting and its initial use traced back because it arrests child development. As a Director on a Board that dealt with homeless kids i have seen the damage created by pot and it is as devasting as alcohol, other other so called risky drugs.
This experience has left me to gringe when Hollywood types in movies lated for the young roll one for recreation. What a sad and dangerous endorsement . Ok I am off my soap box.

We "rented" for a few years until we decided to buy. Bought a Villa and we were "seasonal residents" for a time. We noticed that people there were not very friendly towards us until they found out that we owned the home we were in and did not rent it.
We sold that home within a year after that. That was not what we were looking for.
All of us have to realize if it wasn't for the whatever you want to call the non owners, we would not have the restaurants, retailers, golf courses, pools, etc. I could go on and on. All of us know what we have here is so unique and irreplaceable.
Probably safe to say we have been in their situation at one time or another when we first came here. Go back in memory of the residents that were understanding and helpful to us and try to be that way in our travels here when it starts to "heat up".
Too early to be on the pulpit............

i wonder how many hardcore hard drug addicts started with a cigarette and a beer "BAN CIGARETTES AND ALCOHOL" Lets start from the beginning ---OR put a warning on every pack of cannabis "smoke pot responsibly" that should solve any problem that might arrise

If you really think that pot is as devastating as alcohol you'd better think again. I'm not saying that pot is good for you but, in some cases it is. I have seen alcohol destroy families (my Dad and my wife's Dad were both alcoholics). I have not heard of pot doing that other than the dealers/growers killing others. I personally would like to see it legalized but that's another thread.

:agree: Please drive defensively and always assume other drivers will do something unexpected and illegal. If they drive safely, all the better! I did think the original poster's description of the cart and observation about the dragon decal was very helpful. Hopefully someone will recognize it as a cart in their neighbourhood.
