I am a 65-year old widow and most of family are deceased. My husband and I had no children. I would like to move to TV but would be coming there by myself not knowing anyone. I was wondering if anyone else has moved there under these circumstances and how it worked out for you. Thank You.

Well I don't share your situation I can speak to personal experience. Tonight we had a neighborhood party celebrating several people turning 70. There were 2 single women that attended and I believe they enjoyed themselves. There is a vibrant singles community in TV and our neighborhood at least included everyone that live in our community single or couples. So I would say if you moved anywhere as a single person TV would probably be the most welcoming and easiest to fit into.

Hi Veronica,
I was widowed at 55 and have just built a home here in TV. I don't close for a couple of weeks yet, but have been fortunate enough to meet many of my new neighbors thru this forum. I have no misgivings about moving to TV and am terribly excited to be doing so! I think it provides many opportunities for us that we otherwise would not have. Relax, meet some awesome folks and enjoy all TV has to offer.

I am now 64 and moved here alone at 55. I had a friend who moved here a couple of months later but I had no problem meeting people in those couple of months. There are so many activities - I became assertive and attended a few clubs and learned pickleball. You will love it.

I am not a single lady but I can tell you that there are many singles in TV. I have two people that live just doors away....one is a man an done a woman. They are both super nice and the neighbors really have gone out of their way to welcome them into the neighborhood. From my observation, those who are single do just as much and have just as many friends as those married couples. I think you can put your mind at ease and come on down!!!

I've met a handful...either widows or divorced who've moved here alone. Some already had a friend or two here, others did not. I can't speak from experience but I know these folks found it to be a good experience. Just do what you like to do here...join a club, a church, go out for coffee and chat with strangers who soon will be your friends! Best wishes!!!

I moved here 15 months ago as a widow; I was 62. There are LOTS of singles, widowed and divorced here. I belong to the Singles Baby Boomers and the Sumter Singles. Great groups for meeting people. Both groups plan lots of activities such as eating out, going to a movie, hiking, biking, billiards, or just playing cards. You name it! You'll love it here. No going back north for me!!

I am in the same situation, I am a young widow, we had no children of our own. I just moved here 2 weeks ago, renting, till I close on my house in Charlotte in a week. I have met a group of singles that are wonderful! I have a list already of phone numbers. I found my first contacts on this site and they now have me on a list for activities they do with the group of singles. Don't worry, you will meet people, couples and singles, all very welcoming and they do extend invitations, "walk the talk". I will pm you my phone number.

Hi Veronica... You do know people here, from Talk of the Villages, you now know 27,000 people. I came here in 2007, alone with my dogs. But I already had 50 friends from TOTV (both singles and married couples). Now, my friendship list is enormous and between Dianne (Chachacha) and I, we post a lot of the singles forum and usually hold meet & greets for newbies coming to town. We did just that the other night with DJohnson and 90% of the rest of our group. I think she had a lot of fun, and also made a lot of new friends that night and she is so delightful, she added a lot to our group.
Please please, let us know when you visit and we will be sure to meet up with you. The best way is to post on here or to send us a PM. Please don't be shy, we love bringing in new people to our group. Hope to hear from you soon. Kathie

Hi, Veronica. Tell you what: Where you live now, alone, you have probably explored/exhausted most of the possibilities for recreation and socializing. You probably don't see some of your old friends because you don't want to be a "fifth wheel.' Well, guess what - if you move to The Villages those problems will disappear. There are hundreds (possibly thousands)of clubs and groups doing everything imaginable, from sewing, painting, playing card games to eating out and exercising. And they don't care if you're married or single, no one notices. You will make friends, everyone is helpful and friendly (except a few old grouches, but they're everywhere, aren't they?) You are a bit younger than the average but that doesn't matter either.
Sign up for a lifestyles visit and c'mon down.

I am not single, but I've been so impressed by the friendships made by the people on this BB alone and it has nothing to do with one's marital status. So, I echo what the other posters have said. Although I'm not arriving till summer of 2013, so I don't speak from experience, I would move to TV married or single. I can't think of another community that would be so welcoming.

I am a single male wannabe that plans on moving to TV and I don't have the slightest reservation about the ability to make new friends. I feel I have made a few friends from this forum. If you listen to "The Mayor", (KathieI, post 13), you will probably have more friends than you could ever imagine.
A lifetyle visit would be a good idea coinciding with a Crispers luncheon on the third Friday of the month when TOTV members will be there.
BTW - Love you KathieI.

Hi Veronica,
I am not a single, but we have only one child and she lives in Australia. You would be so very welcome to share the holidays with us and more, if you choose. We know what it is like to be alone for holidays and other events. Please seriously think about moving down here and we would love to keep in touch!

We have several singles in our village of 53 home. Three girls and a boy and a pair of girls too.
There are a lot of singles who seem to enjoy it here and I know we enjoy them a LOT.
