We're thinking of going with Fross and Fross. Any pros/cons would be appreciated.

2 partners, Brian Hentz and Jeff Gronke just broke away from Ceibert Wealth on Rt. 466 across from Laural Manor for various reasons. They opened an office in Bailey Plaza near Traverna Red a few miles north of The Villages on Rt. 441/27. They are wonderful and smart people and you should check them out before you do anything.

What will they do for you that you can't do yourself?

Not everybody is adept and knowlegable in investments. Apparently, judging by the customer base that use financial consultants, there are very few. Must be nice not to need one.

I have never dealt with them. They may be great . Check them out best you can. Don't give them all your investment money. Remember there was a lot of "smart" people who thought Bernie Madof was great. The only person who truly cares about your money is YOU !

I will give you 2 (and there are others) but in my mind going with a Financial Advisor is not because they can do better than you or I. Obviously if we are looking for one, you did fairly well financially up to now.

1. Take emotion out of any decisions made. Most people hem and haw and just never make a decision especially one based on sound facts rather than rumor, hearsay or gut feeling.

2. Peace of mind knowing when the time comes, there has been a relationship developed with a financial advisor who will support/ assist your spouse or the executor of your estate and hopefully follow and carry through with your investing style and philosphy that has been established.

#2 is most likely the main reason why people seek out a financial advisor. This may be of no matter to you if in fact your spouse/executor is thoroughly knowledge and comfortable in handing all of you current financial dealings....most are not and in fact have no idea what to do or expect. I would not be comfortable with a local stock broker or a major big house like Fidelity, Price or USAA ....you are nothing more than an account number in most of these places.

They lease the land and the building (so we've been told). Check their credentials. They don't have additional education beyond investment advisors. If you're good with that...then they'll probably be fine to work with. Life-styles? That's something else to investigate, I would say.

Ask them where they're going to invest your money for you and what kind of returns they expect, and how liquid your investments are, if you're happy with the answer then go for it, they want 500K (exceptions can be made, so they say) and they take 1% The best thing to do is educate yourself, get to know how stocks, bonds and annuties work, do your own research and make your own choices.

Give me some credit....you dont think I asked these questions!! (BTW no VA's) . Your missing the key point.......you and i can do all the research and make the decisions BUT what happens when you and I are no longer able to make these decisions. I never said that this or any Financal Advisor can do better than you or I. Its like taking out an insurance policy (you dont need it UNTIL you really do need it) and if you check around its hard to find one for less than 1%.

Yes, 1% + or - is common. One size doesn't fit all when it ocmes to FA's. If you're satisfied with the overall results vs. the fee then it's a good choice. If not, and FA isn't for you.

The real issue is that financial advisors do this for a living. To earn their income they invest yours. To think that they don't serve their own interests in doing so is naive. The truth is they cannot do better than low cost index funds. If you do minimal research you will find this to be true. Phil
