musicians in the Villages? Our friend ( wonderful guitar player) was thinking of relocating here because he ( of course!) loved it. He wanted me to ask if anyone knows what the villages pays the square entertainers..Anyone have any idea? Thanks!

It usually takes quite awhile before anyone gets hired on the squares. If he is a one man act, he may want to look at playing some of the restaurants first and maybe get a following and get his name out.

Barbara Vesco will tell you they only book acts for the town squares and Katie Belle's through talent agents, specifically, Paul Vesco. (What a coincidence!)

I know a lot of gigging musicians here and they all say that the pay is very low and the bookings are very difficult. Like someone said, you basically have to pay Paul Vesco to represent you to his wife.

I talked to a duet about playing drums for them and they told me that splitting the money three ways made it not worth their time.

I would guess that some of the bigger groups like Rocky and the Rollers and Uncle Bob's Rock Box have to get paid pretty well as they have a lot of members and are a pretty big production.

Solo acts that I know say that they are lucky to make $100 for the night. I also know some acts that play for dinner and tips.

Like most jobs in Florida - peanuts compared to what they earn in the North.

You come to Florida with money not to make money.

Wow, Thanks! I will pass that along....Appears you must know the Vesco's well to get "in" down here. Funny, it makes me wonder how some ( not a lot but definitely a few!!) "bands" still play here year after year when there is barely 20 people in the square and you hear folks grumbling about how they are not very good........hmmm makes one wonder...
