I think we paid around $6500 for a very large birdcage. One of the benefits of buying pre-owned is that you often get "free" birdcages and landscaping.

Thank YouPivo, for us to try and give you an idea how much it will cost you for a birdcage can be a little difficult and not too helpful. I can tell you that the birdcage we just had installed by T&D is itemized as $8000 plus deck & misc. - $6000+, but the cage is more than twice the size (47x23) of what you're anticipating.

There are additions and options that also affect the price. For instance there is an additional cost for the floor or deck (as indicated above) if a pool is involved. Also to consider is the type of supports or columns used, elevation issues, price increases and more.

If I were to give you a wild guess as to what cost you should expect (and I do mean wild guess) I would guess maybe $6000 for the size you've asked about, but I wouldn't bet a plumb nickle that I'm anywhere near accurate.

The only way you'll really get accurate estimates is when you get here and contact a few of the birdcage installers to get free estimates based on your wants and selections. Good luck and have a safe trip down, across or from wherever! :)

We used T&D- excellent work. Looked at many of their jobs and talked to some of their customers. Got good reports and we are extreemely pleased with our enclosure. A rough estimate of cost per square ft = $8-$10. Did not get any extras from T&D

That was the greatest part of the birdcage cost There are quite a few itemized items listed and I can't really segregate what may be pool related vs. birdcage related with other things specified. Some itemizations may even be related to both. Bottom line is that it would be impractical to even try to segregate birdcage related expenses as all were subtotaled into about 20 different itemizations - the base birdcage being just one of them. As for recommending them... I would at a heartbeat and would even use T&D again... and did so afterward to screen in our front entrance. Here are a couple pictures to give you an idea what the birdcage they installed looks like.

p.s. Using Challengers price estimate range per s/f that would come out to $8,648 to 10,810 for our birdcage size.

We've built two birdcages and used White's Aluminun both times. Both times we got three quotes.

White's Aluminum quoted $2800 for 9x16, that was in corner only two walls no doors, they said $200 of that includes design drawings & approvals by the building dept.

That's $19.50 a sq ' , I thought that was high??

I paid with my new build for a 9x14 about $2800 with the concrete pad, open on 3 sides, 1 side against house, did an "L" shape off my lanai. Love the extra space!

After our visit, I checked into the prices and was told that a "two story birdcage" would be about $15,000 (we had assumed it would be a lot more).....and that the pool would be about $25,000.....for a total of about $40,000. I'm pretty sure there would be other small expenses.

The birdcages are GREAT as they keep all the little leaves and bugs out of the area..........plus it's a wonderful extension of the original lanai area.

WE had one in our rental home end of last year; that's why we checked into it.......it was a two story high birdcage.

The grandbaby loved the heated pool and began swimming "motions" with her feet and arms......barely 6 months old. She also loved being held and guided under the waterfall. No hesitation or fear at all. First time in a pool.

We would definitely get one, hopefully in a gently used home so we don't have to go through all the building, etc.....and can literally "see it".......rather than imagine it........once we come to our final decision.

So many seem to buy homes and then rent them out, saving the good months for themselves........this is a wonderful option for those, like us, who might not want to stay through the summer months, but would enjoy other seasons during the year.

The home would be looked after while someone else is enjoying it, allowing us to keep our northern home to escape the heat....during the summer.

p.s. the two story birdcage with our rental home came with two doors......one on each side to exit by......it was pretty huge for that estimated price of $15,000 birdcage alone. Like a total "other" outdoor living area.
