If I were to come in February @ the TownePlace Suites with 2 small dogs, are there restaurants with outside seating that allows pets?
I just want to rent a cart and see TV. Maybe go in some open houses. I don't think I could leave my dogs in a hotel. I am one of those people. I am to far
away from retirement to do the LSV. 5 years. I have been unable to find a house for a week @ that time.

We travel a lot with two dogs. It's been our experience that all pet-friendly hotels prohibit leaving dogs in the hotel room when you are absent. There are a few restaurants in The Villages that allow dogs on the patio, not a lot. As far as attending Open Houses, I don't think Agents would allow you to take dogs into houses that are for sale.

I know the answer to the dogs/restaurants question because I asked specifically at several restaurants when we were there in October. The answer is "no", they don't allow them in their outdoor seating areas. However, many of them have a situation where you could sit at a table next to the fencing and have your pups just on the other side of the fence, so they are on public property, but are close enough to be with you. Does that make sense?
There are small dogs everywhere in TV, obviously well loved. They are all well groomed and made my two look like chopped liver! Good luck with your visit.

It will be cool in February, so you could leave the dogs in the car for short periods of time while viewing open houses.

5 years away from retirement is not too soon for a LSV, outside of renting a place for a month I think LSV's are one of the best ways to find out if you would like living in TV

I would like to do that, but they are only 3 days.
I thought I would save that for now.

TownePlace Suites will allow you to leave you dogs as long as they don't bark continuously. Ours kept barking so we had to find someone that would board them at the last minute and fortunately it worked out nicely. If your dogs won't bark they would be fine if you left them alone for short periods of time. Hope you enjoy your visit.

Lifestyle visits are currently up to 7 days. We are coming in Jan with our dog for a 7 day visit. You just pay extra for the dog.

We have a LSV scheduled for next month, and were explicitly told we could only do it ONCE.
Perhaps they have changed the rules?

If your dogs are like my dogs, they would much rather be out riding in the golf cart with me than stuck in a hotel room alone. Just make sure they are secure with a leash for their protection.
You'll have a ball exploring The Villages with your two friends. There are dog parks around for a break. I think they'll love it.

I have family that did the LSV in Oct for 6 or 7 days and they are coming back in Feb for 6 days staying in Villa's down by Brownwood. In Oct the cart was included this Feb they are renting a cart as it is not included in the Feb LSV and as I stated we did 3 LSV before we moved here

Hmmmm, during our upcoming visit I'll be sure & ask what the policy is & get clarification. From what we were told it sure sounded like we would have to choose a nearby hotel for any subsequent visits.

One thing for sure .. most dogs adore riding in golf carts. When we take our dogs in our golf cart, we use harnesses instead of collars, in case we have to brake suddenly. (And as suggested by Janmcn, of course the harnesses are securely anchored with leashes for the dogs' protection).

If your sales agent sees that you are a serious prospect, he can go to bat to get additional LSVs, without some of the extra perks. We have been offered a second LSV, but we rent for two months in the winter so are not interested.

We had a dog when we first started looking at retirement communities. We ask our contact (sales agent) to get us info on area "doggie hotels" and made arrangements for our 12 year old Toy poodle. Sometimes we left her at home with a dog setter----now that I look back---that really made the most sense. I know you won't agree but that is really best for your dog friend. She made it to retirement and passed at 16. She was our best and last.

Perhaps you might be able to find a TV resident who would pet sit your dogs in their home for short periods during your stay. I know that there are many dog lovers here that no longer have dogs of their own, and perhaps theyd enjoy the chance to spend some time with dogs and make a little money at the same time. That sounds like something I would like to do...if I didn't have dogs of my own.

i know that there will be negative feedback on my comments. if you are here for a week put the dogs in a kennel in illinois. as far as dogs in restaurants, it is annoying and unsanitary to share dining space (indoors or out) with dogs. it was gross in Berlin and Paris and is not acceptable here. they are dogs.

Florida passed a law that allows dogs in restaurant outdoor seating areas. If you don't approve, call your state senator or representative.

Actually the law only gave restaurant owners the right of refusal ....Its up to them if they want to comply and only if they have outdoor seating in an area not in closed with more than one wall and no roof..
Wet dogs do add to the ambiance don't you think ???? :mmmm:

I am especially fond of the English Bulldog who slobbered mouth goo all over my feet and then proceeded to fire up his "brass band" of stinky f**ts. ( At a Villages outside seating area).
The dog owner was very apologetic..( NOT )...her comment was...
.............."Oh that's nice..HE LIKES YOU...HE SNARLS AT MOST MEN".
Obviously the nice lady works out everyday......and is quite flexible too......
....How else would she have been able to put her foot in her mouth
while her head was that far up her B*TT.
Proof positive " You Can't Fix Stupid"
Luckily, we were able to cancel our order and leave.

My son has owned a couple of bulldogs. Very docile and lovable but when they cut wind....... it's time to leave the room. :D
BTW - I agree with Fumar... they are ugly as all get out.
