I am thinking of driving to Charlottesville to visit a friend. Any ideas about route, place to stop over, etc., would be welcome.

You can continue for 2 more hours and come visit us too. I'll ask my husband tonight. He drove it a few months ago. We live next to Dulles airport in Northern VA.

We usually go up 95N to 64W. We go that way to visit friends and family in the Hampton Roads area. I am sure there is probably a more direct route. Go to AAA they will route it for you!

Use mapquest.com it will show you the best way from The Villages to Charlottesville. You might want to stay the night in Florence, SC that's about half way.
