What designer model(s) have sold most over time and why?

I am still a fan of the Gardenia. I love the large open space and window light of the Gardenia's great room and good sized kitchen, and the large master bedroom suite. The secondary bedrooms are smallish, but I think overtime that this model and it's stick counterpart the Camellia has been the most frequently sold. It's price starts I think now about $240, am I right on that??

The Lantana is my second choice, the great room is darkish though because the natural light comes from the front door area and the back and window on one side of the kitchen but the plus is that the large front bedroom can be used as a multipurpose den/office/ bedroom and kind of allow the great room to be spiffy most of the time. The third bedroom is of good size too and both bathrooms are generous.

There are new models that are popular but they are just sectioning out about the same overall size of about 2000 square feet. Why do you like the model you have chosen or are thinking to choose, AND what would you change now that you have it???

You're right! I just posted this earlier on another thread...there's only so many ways you can divvy up a space. So many of the floorplans are nearly identical: Ivy, Lantana, Lilac, Iris...

I, personally, would like to see them utilize the formal dining areas differently...enlarge the nooks but use that other space for the formal dining area in a different way. I wish when the open the new models that a couple of interior decorators would give us ideas on what to do with that space!

But back to your REAL question: from what I've seen in my short history with TV, I think you're right, Gracie...the Gardenia seems to be a VERY popular model!

I chose a Lily with a golf cart garage. I chose it because of the larger 2 & 3rd bedrooms, and the open living space between the nook and the living area. I love the 2nd bedroom with the bay window in the front, and the option to have a small storage area across from the laundry area was another factor. It suited me for my purposes and am very happy with it. My sister has a Gardenia and loves it also, we each got what suited our lifestyles for home and entertaining.

I think the Gardenia has been the most popular, at least with people I have talked to the last few years....

We LOVE our Holly....because of the double doors to the master bedroom, and two closets ( one for me and one for the men).

The front bedroom has a big walk in closet too. We made a couple changes for our own use, but I like the way the master bath is laid out with the split sinks.

I think the kitchen is great because of the huge island. We got the open plan kitchen, but that really cut down on the number of upper cabinets.

We love our Lily but all the floor plans the Villages have to offer are very nice. Picking the one that suits you is the hardest part. We chose the Lily because of the large 2nd bedroom with the bay window and the openess of the living area. You also have to consider the size of your lot and if you want all the bump out options and a pool.

The Iris has become very popular on interior lots and the Lily and Lantana on golf course lots. Iris already has a golf cart garage and I think that is why it has become so popular. Of the older designs, the Gardena seems Most popular to me, especially interior lots, and Lantana on the golf course or view lots. We have a Lily on the golf course. Why, "sweetie" liked it-----me too!

My realtor told me in the spring that the Iris was the most popular model. I don't have a clue if that is true or not.

I picked the Iris for that little storage room across from the washer/dryer. I wanted a place for my cat's litter box!! So, I picked the Iris for my two cats! But, when I eventually move to TV I would also like to have an office area built in that storage area.

I, too, would like to see an alternative way to use the dining room. I mentioned this at my design team meeting and they said it could be used as a larger living area, a sitting area or office area. I have thought about putting an electric fireplace in the corner and making it a small sitting area. I also wished the the models offered a half bath option.

Hi all from the cold wet and some what broken New Jersey shore.
Rona and I just returned from our design meeting and will be officially villages 2/11/12..closing date...can't wait.
Guess I am drifting,,, so we bought the lantana and blew it out as much as possible to the lot size based on all the great advise we received from everyone,,,we loved the open floor plan and the pocket doors to the lanai.
We are east facing so we get the morning sun on the lanai. Plenty of light and space..
Can't wait to be full time unemployed person enjoying everything offered to us in the villages
