If you like another bad restaurant in The Villages, lets get a Mels Diner as some have seggested. Canned food that tastes bad, soaking in water and full of chemicals.

Already there is Speckled Butter Bean for those canned veggies that are soaked in the chemical filled water.
Gosh, that is terrible food at the Speckled Butter Bean. Hard to believe that there is something even worse than Golden Corral, but Speckled Butter Bean takes low to a new low.

You know, I have to agree with you and it doesn't look all that clean either, but the lot is always full.

quantity over quality seems to be the defining critieria when decidiing if a restaurant is good or not. no wonder there are so many obese folks.

I can hardly EVER finish any portion served anymore.

Even worse is when you pay a high price at a fancy restaurant and some of the food still comes out of a can.
Here's a tip for eating at the Speckled Butter Bean and Golden Corral. They both have lots of choices of foods that don't come out of cans. For example, raw onion rings, lettuce, raw spinach, romain lettuce, cucumber slices and tomatoe slices. etc.. Strawberries, grapes, orange wedges and many other items. (Golden Corral)
When you order a fruit cup in a fancy restaurant, does it all come from fresh fruit that they cut in the kitchen? I doubt it.

I've never heard of Speckled Butter Bean before, but does anyone think that anyone eating at Golden Corral is thinking about how to eat healthily?
My wife who is from the Philippines heard about Golden Corral from some people she used to work with and insisted that we go there. After about 20 minutes she looked at me and said, "This is a suicide restaurant.".

I once worked in the kitchen of a restaurant. Unless it's high-end where there are chefs, sous-chefs etc., or it's a small mom and pop where "mom" loves to cook from scratch. You will be getting your food "out of a can" (so to speak). Have you seen the Cisco trucks? They supply restaurants, hospitals and more---food. The desserts in them, lasagna, soups and more.

Thanks for the info, every time we come to the villages we go past there and always say we should stop in there and we wonder how the food is, we don't have to wonder any more!

I wonder which was a greater danger: being in the military or eating at a chain buffet restaurant?

I guess you've never been in the military but have eaten in a chain buffet. For you to compare the two is a bit sad.

I eat food out of cans. I run with scissors. I hang around with people from both sides of the aisle. I drive my golf cart at 21mph.
Wanna fight? ;)
Oh no...this isn't the neverending short story thread.:mmmm:
