I was just looking at a site for rentals. If everything goes as planned, we will be out of our home here in Michigan the first week in February. Steve and I are coming down Friday for a week to look at all of our options. Since it is taking so long for a design team appointment we are considering renting for two or three months. I was quite surprised when I saw how much the rentals are. For three months we would be paying almost $10,000. It makes more sense to buy a spec but then we don't have any input. Then again, with the 10K we save we could make some improvements.:22yikes: Has anyone bought a spec? Has anyone found less costly rentals? Thanks all!

You are coming to rent during the peak rental period, yes rents run 3,000 to 3,500 during that time. All the people up north come down to get out of the snow , thus there isnt enough homes to rent and drives the cost up. Supply and demand.......

Thanks Nipas k-9. That's what I thought but I was just hoping someone had another idea. Has anyone rented outside of TV?
It's not a big deal, I just want to get my plans in order. If we have to bite the bullet..so be it.

You might check out some of the extended stay hotels or delay your trip to April when the rates drop by about 30-50% for rentals in the Villages.

This is what I was going to suggest, try renting out of TV

if you are coming with furniture you might find someone with an unfurnished for a few months, but during high season its the going rate with rentals going as fast as they are posted. you will find homes in april and lots of them starting in may
