Who's your favorite news anchor? Just listing national news anchors in this poll. And just the U.S. There is a lovely French news anchor woman--Mélissa Theuriau -- who seems to have a ton of followers on the Internet.

Brian Williams in the lead. I usually watch Diane Sawyer mostly because she precedes Jeopardy.

I loved Carole Simpson in New York when she was on the air because of her soothing voice.

David Muir who subs for D. Sawyer. He anchored in Boston before he jumped to ABC.

A little outdated list. Russ Mitchel is the local evening anchor on WKYC in Cleveland Ohio and has been there since January of 2012. Also Charles Gibson has been retired in 2009.

Megan Kelly Fox News

We have Megan Kelly on for much of the time she is on air. I was going more for the Prime Time anchors.

Ditto. DAVID MUIR. Nice young intelligent fellow; fast thinker and speaker. Two years younger than our son.

We love when he is on rather than Diane Sawyer who talks too slowly and is getting a little "ditzy".

David gets in MUCH MORE NEWS in the same slot of time. He's paid his dues abroad and in covering war zones.........is in line to be the anchor when she retires. I believe he's from the Syracuse area; graduated Ithaca and Georgetown Universities...........plus studied abroad.

Excellent journalist.

My vote is for Anderson Cooper. Seems to have a lot of integrity and compassion. He could be living on his family's wealth (his mother is Gloria Vanderbilt), but he has made his way in the world of TV journalism.

I also like David Muir on ABC.

We will never see our granddaughter in front of the camera, she writes the news for a major television station in a decent size city and in her first job as weekend news editor she has fulfilled the first part of her dream. She graduated college this summer after interning on the Today show.

She is a woman who believes in the First Amendment and carefully phrases her sentences to always write the DOCUMENTED truth. Speculation is not part of her procedure.

I could not resist the chance to brag. We love her so.

You should brag, graciegirl. Hope she reads TOTV sometimes. They teach you to try to document everything you can in law school too. That is one of the very good lessons I learned the five years or so I was at the University of Minnesota Law School and then the Law Library. Try to get or put everything you can in writing and make sure it is kept in secure places or at least in more than one location.

On another subject, I feel bad I did not put Scott Pelley in my poll. http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-18564_162-51732/scott-pelley/ I did not think he had been anchor long enough to get a big following.

We also watch Scott Pelley after the ABC News with David Muir/Diane Sawyer is over.......he was a longtime reporter on 60 Minutes, wasn't he?
Good journalist.

Scott Pelley's half hour evening news is very much to our liking with "no frills" and straight to the point. Not fond of Diane Sawyer's format at all.

Our favorite of all time was Walter Conkrite and later Charlie Gibson.
Our moms and dad's watched Chet Huntley and David Brinkley.
Also, we still remember Dan Rather hanging on to that tree in the hurricane winds.

Now, the evening news has too many pharmaceutical advertisements as well as too much "changeable" health news and "special effects" lately for our eyes to take.
Yes, we have large screen high definition t.v. but a simpler format is more relaxing to view.

I can't say that I care much for any of the aforementioned but Cavuto and Kelly come close.

I prefer the writings of Daniel Henninger, Stephen Bret, Kimerley Strassel, Peggy Noonan and a few other coulmnist.

As a general statement journalist have substituted documented reporting for either gaining recognition or advancing their bias. Most lack subjectivity and many are poor at investigative reporting. They are more intrested in attention getting soundbites and explains why so many focus on many more hours reporting on Kate Middelton's pregnancy problems then the mishandling of Benghazi that left four americans dead. A true journalist would have written four americans died and someone lied." Additionally they kow tow up to people of influence and power when they should be challenging them. (shades of Edward Rr. Murrow) Who would have ever believed that a journalist could become a groupie. My opinion of most journalist falls about equi-distance to that of politicians.

Much of the major news stations news-- CBS, NBC, ABC, and Fox-- do seem more like entertainment than actual news. Maybe, the Internet is more to blame than anything else? My first stop for news is usually Google and other search engines rather than news programs. I also like to see how foreign news providers cover various stories.

Yes, my mistake. I thought he had not been on the air long enough as an anchor to gain a lot of fans. I associate Scott Pelley more with 60 Minutes than as an established news anchor.
