Would anyone care to comment on the new Apple "mini" I-pad?

Our son had given us both the larger Apple I-pad last Christmas.
My husband added all of his apps to the ones our son had initially installed.
However, he kept saying it was too "heavy" to hold.....and preferred holding his new I-phone..........

I just bought him the "mini" I-pad as one of his Christmas gifts and am hoping it will be just the right size.......

Our older grandchildren LOVED the Kindle FIRE last Christmas........
(ages 8, 11 and 18).....and still use them constantly.

However, my husband and I don't use our Kindle Fire's......reverting back to the basic Kindle for reading.............just easier for us to change the pages and also lighter weight.

Just bought the mini as a gift for my son and his family. They have the larger IPad and are starting to flunk share....:). Will let you know what they think. Personally I think it's great, but since I have an iPhone and a large iPad, it would probably be Apple overkill for me.....LOLOLOL.

My husband and I had a Motorola Xoom tablet obtained about 1 1/2 years ago. I didn't like it from the beginning. It was terrible to send e-mails with. Felt like I was always trying to pound the screen to get a letter entered. It was also heavier and my hands would get tired holding it. I just got the mini I-Pad and so far love it. The battery time lasts about two days for me. I only have it on Wi-Fi for now as our contract with the Motorola goes until May. I don't think with Verizon that I can go on and off the service as some have mentioned. It fits nicely in my purse like my Kindle did. I am happy to have it.

I have been an Apple guy for many years. I held off buying an ipad until last month, when the 4th generation regular size ipad was announced......(the same day as the ipad mini was announced).

My friend who owns a 3rd generation ipad, a kindle fire, etc bought the ipad mini the same day I ordered the new ipad.

My initial thinking was I wanted the larger one. I got it, used it for a week or so.........but once I got my hands on my friend's ipad mini, I no longer liked my new "bigger" ipad. It was heavy. Large. Etc.

I loved my friend's ipad mini. It was everything the large ipad was not. I know it does not have the retina display, but I found that was a non issue....the mini looked great, was thin, light, the perfect size. Where I thought it would be too small, I was wrong.

I have not bought the mini yet, but strangely after owning the regular size ipad and returning it, I'm more at home using my iphone for now and will probably buy the mini in the foreseeable future. Like most Apple products, you do not know until it is IN YOUR HANDS......
