I recently purchased a Larado ranch style home and am considering sliding
glass or acrylic windows. Would anyone know where to purchase windows
for this project? Is it possible to use existing posts? Would anyone know
whats involved in doing this yourself. This lanai is a two sided screened lanai.
Thanks.

If you are asking these questions are you sure YOU want to tackle this project as a DIY. Remember we live in Florida and Florida has wind . Even if you put in Windows, rather than acrylic, all windows installed in Florida must meet certain hurricane standards . The strongest built window is no stronger than the frame you are placing it in. If your existing posts were built to handle screens, it is unlikely they can handle the weight of windows along with the force of hurricane strength winds.
I think you would be wise to do more research on this project, determine if building permits are needed (most likely YES), and moresomake certain wat you are going to build wil withstand Florida weather changes. Last thing you wnat to do is to build something thats not up to code.
BTW ROMAC in Ocala has a great window showroom and can show you alot of options.

Yes, a permit is required, and the application must include the engineering of the windows and the fastening system.
