How many of you truly believe you have witnessed an unidentified flying object?

Where was this U.F.O. sighting?

After discussing my own skeptic husband's personal sighting with him, the other day........we both wondered why with all the cell phone cameras around, more people have not taken photos???

His sighting was back in the mid 1990's, so he didn't have a cell phone at the time, plus he didn't keep his cameras in the car..........unless we were on vacation.

U.F.O. is a term used until the Object in question is identified. That of course happens in the vast majority of sittings that came from folks that were 100% positive that it was an alien craft filled with little E.T. looking creatures. The remaining few that are never identified are NOT VERIFIED as ALIEN CRAFT. When you show me, either live or dead, a BIG FOOT, I will take another look at U.F.O.'s

Because the universe is so immense, intelligent life is indeed possible. In the last couple of days Hubble has reported galaxies and or solar systems previously undetected.

My problem is with comprehension using my very finite mind. What is on the outside of the end of all space? What happened before it began? This is from a scientific perspective rather than a religious one because I don't see why the two can't go hand in hand.

As the Pennsylvania Dutch would say "It wonders me".

Well, let me tell you.....my husband of almost 50 years was a TOTAL SKEPTIC DOUBTING THOMAS......whereas I, like you, have always been open minded about all things seen and unseen........

That experience, on his birthday, totally changed his perception.
He knows it was NOT a helicopter nor an airplane to be hovering so low WITHOUT SOUND ....all the lights..........over his car (he had the windows down as he was smoking while driving the short distance from our house down to our neighbor's home in January to deliver the letter of recommendation I had just typed for their daughter's college application........)

My friend and neighbor told me that he was totally shaken up, a nervous wreck, when he arrived at their front door........babbling about what he had just seen. That is not him. Not much shakes him up. That did.

When he got home, I had him call our local police, the local newspaper and the Plattsburgh Air Force Base...........no one was much interested.

The next day, our guys who were installing vinyl siding on our house returned to finish the job..........I mentioned it to them.........they had a REALLY GOOD LAUGH and said it must have been a "hang glider".
It was dusk and who goes hang gliding in such a HUGE CRAFT with lights and just hovers over a neighborhood??????????

Nobody believed him. I believed him as I had never seen him like that.
He's very scientific minded and not spiritual nor open minded about the mysterious or the unknown.........whereas I am.

I'm glad he had the experience........as I say, he had been a total skeptic.

M.U.F.O.N. has an abbreviated account of what he saw. They only paraphrased briefly his long account of what he experienced.

Years before, the same type craft had been seen.....same deal...over our town......by policemen, firemen, priests, teachers, respectable citizens, high school students, you name it........they all called the paper, etc.
M.U.F.O.N. began coming to our town.

These craft all had blue lights, hovered stationary.........and then, at a fast rate of speed..........zoomed off. No helicopter can do that. They were huge.

Hubby was so IN SHOCK but wanted to recall it..........the next day at the same time of dusk, he drove the few houses down to where his "sighting" had occurred..........and took a photo of the house, a neighbors, by which he had stopped our car........when this craft was overhead.........he later used photoshop or some program to print it out and then he painted over it..........and painted in the U.F.O. as he recalled it. He hung it in our family room.............for years and years. I finally gave it to our grandson.

Anyone who ever sees one will KNOW if it is real or not.

Again, he was always a scientific minded LOGICAL person.
But when you experience something like that.......it makes an impression.

Very interesting question. I've seen lots of things in the sky I couldn't identify, which I guess qualify as UFO's. But I'm a big believer in Occam's Razor. So the last thing I would ever assume is little green men. But there is a part of us that wants to believe. Some so strongly that they overcome reality to believe.

I am reminded of the Phoenix lights a few years ago, and really anything where there are lights at night. IF an alien culture came here their trip would likely be in one of three modes. 1.) The are coming to observe, only. 2.) They are friendly and would like to make contact. 3.) They are hostile and would like to attack.

I don't believe in any of these scenarios it would make sense to fly around at night with the lights on. If they were observing they would turn the lights off. If they wanted to make contact they would light up even better and say something. I don't want to think about the third one, but again I don't think they'd light around with their lights one.

I've always found only two plausible ways to look at life on other planets. First, the creation story of Christians and some other religions that this planet was created special and the stars are just stars would mean life only on earth and nowhere else. Or if there is life elsewhere, there would be lots of life elsewhere.

I agree with Gracie, the size of the universe we know about is overwhelming, not to mention what is beyond. I was watching a PBS show the other day about improved telescopes and looking at pictures of tens of thousands of galaxies, each with bilions of stars. Honestly, my mind cannot get hold of this and the unfathomable distances between.

So, like others, I'd be open to aliens, just hope they're friendly and aren't related to the Kardashians.

When younger I always just assumed they would be PEACEFUL beings........spiritually evolved beings.
It wasn't until the past decade or so that I started wondering, "What if they are not so peaceful?"

What if earth has just been a test tube or scientific experiment for them?
Our planet does seem to be a "mess" right now with warring factions.

It wouldn't surprise me if we were being observed.

Maybe they are trying to break it to us gently.

Just hope they don't need "us" for a food supply.

Same here. Everything I have seen in the various skies I have looked at over the various years in many states had a reasonable explanation.

I would never criticize someone though telling of their experiences unless I was standing right beside them and saw nothing.

triangles.html (http://www.mufon.com/bob_pratt/triangles.html)

Most of these were triangle shaped.....with a few other varieties.

Keep scrolling down.......this is very long.....from the earlier days.

My husband's sighting was that of a huge round craft.....

Some of the "sighters" may be delusional, but not all would be........

Exactly. That would be common sense. But he was NOT DRINKING, does not do drugs......and has always been very scientific minded and non believer........so for him to be so shook up by this huge craft overhead, silently hovering above the car..........he had his windows open even though it was January.........he could see it..........after awhile it TOOK OFF AT A FAST RATE OF SPEED over the house he later took a picture of and painted over with the craft above it , as it sped off.........

Why go through all that trouble? He needed to document it.

He is and was a successful person in our town......so he didn't need adulation nor public recognition. I believe him, simply because he was always such a doubting Thomas.

P.S.
Soon afterward, he met up with a fellow who owns a local agricultural "outbuildings" business who puts up silos and barns, etc......he mentioned his "experience".
This fellow had been coming back "home" from Albany New York, from the western direction into our town..........and SAW the craft as it sped off into the night sky.

We know that other fellow to be a good upstanding citizen and family man and not one to need to tell lies or exaggerate.

A few years later, a local florist woman was at our house..........her house faces the same direction that my husband saw the craft shoot off into...........she said she has seen them before.........similar story. Again, these were not helicopters.

My husband's only other thought is that they might be some secret Air Force craft?
Experimental craft?

I'm thinking who hasn't seen something they couldn't id flying? many years ago in taylor co, fl, several of us saw a ball of fire apparently falling to earth miles away. As most people do, we thought of rational explanations: plane crash...we never learned what it was. However, in my lifetime also saw a fireball made of lightning in my back yard. They are a natural but rare phenomonon.

I have definitely seen one, but if I describe the circumstances, you will think I am making it up, so I won't go there. Several other Troopers were with me at the time, and we all saw it.

We also had police officers in our town who spotted them when they were an early phenomenon in our town.......at that time it was more than one craft in the night sky.....also about dusk.

Priests, teachers from our high school and elementary schools, firemen, policemen, doctors, guys in the Lions club, all types of regular ordinary citizens.......all saw these craft just hovering with the blue lights beneath......then they would reverse direction and ZOOM OFF. Any intelligent person would know it was not an airplane or helicopter as we know them to be.........teenagers saw them. So, it wasn't just one town drunk seeing them.

My husband's sighting was MUCH LATER.........but when he compared notes, as I mentioned earlier, he had a few others who saw it.

I , for one, would believe you......so why not just tell what you observed.

I know that after my husband's sighting, many were seen over New Jersey......also by policemen, etc., etc.

UFO's are like Magic Tricks. Sometimes they are so real you cannot explain how it was done, but feel confident, that it is in fact a trick. People have sworn witness to magic and miracles for as long as mankind has been alive, but just because you cannot give it true definition, does not make it a miracle, just something you cannot understand. I for one find UFO's, miracles and witchcraft interesting, but without responsible fact.

In the late 1980s I saw something one night hovering over Lake Carmel in NY. We were returning from a gig with my daughter's drum and bugle corps. There were two bus loads of kids, two bus drivers and an equipment truck with a total of about 9 adults and 40 something kids. We all saw this object hovering so it wasn't a figment of my imagination. At first I just stared then all three vehicles pulled over and we watched for awhile. I don't know what it was but it was not a plane or helicopter. I can't say it was an alien spacecraft. I only know that it was an object which was flying. None of us could identify it.
