Wanted to share an experience that we are going through with our floor tiles in hopes that maybe we are not the only ones affected.
After being in our home for about three years we started noticing small cracks in our floor tile. Over the following months we noticed more of them and eventually called the distributor. They stated that someone would come out to look at the problem and suggested we mark each affected tile. That turned out to be an eye opener for us. About 1/2 of our sq footage is covered with tile and about 1/3 of those tiles have issues of various sizes. The local distributor was very surprised at the size of the problem and said that the problem is called "crazing" and is a manufacturing defect. At that point we had been in this house for four years and The Villages flat out said "sorry warranty is over". After about six weeks we heard back from the distributor who told us the manufacturer would give us replacement tile but the cost of removing and reinstall, about $4,500, was our responsibility. Our reply was that we expected more from those involved and were willing to pay some for the labor but not all of it. That was back in early October and our emails and phone calls now go unanswered. A suggestion was made to us that we post this on TOTV in hopes that we may not be the only ones here who have this particular problem. The tiles in question were made by Interceramic and are their Island series, since discontinued, and distributed by Trinity Tile. So if anyone has this problem or knows of someone experiencing this issue please PM me. Thanks.
