maintenance issues electric vs. gas

Hi

I have a electric par cart and have been frustrated with the special upkeep of the battery system and their costly replacements as well as having a cart that everyone passes. I am considering switching to gas since I think my cart batteries have gone bad over the summer (not in town). That would be their 3rd replacement in 6 years!!

Are there problems associated with gas carts that I have to consider that I may have not considered where the gas carts have similar problems. Especially when the gas cart is not used half of the year.

Gas carts don't have those batteries issues, and non use over the off time is easily dealt with.

Before throwing the baby out with the bath water, you may need to describe what you do to maintain your battery bank.

You must be doing something incorrectly to replace batteries every two years they should last much longer.

What are you doing during the summer?

We get down to TV about 4 times a year - couple of weeks each time. Thus our golf cart sits.....a LOT. We bought a gas cart......here's what I do when we're away:

- Jack it up - put the frame on 4 jack stands........so the tires won't flat spot.

- Add fuel stabilizer and fill the tank up.

- (ours has a carburetor) Either run the carb dry or drain the fuel bowl.

- Hook up a Battery Tender to the battery. It stays plugged in 24/7/365. Click this link ---> Battery Tender (http://www.batterytender.com) .

The above might sound a like a lot of tedium and/or a bit anal. But I have yet to have any starting/running issues with the cart after two years of using this process.

Everyone's got a different mindset about what they're comfortable with. Gas or electric - they'll both get the job done. The maintenance for each differs - pick what you feel will work best for you.
