View Full Version : Parking in front of Sweet Bay

Why does a lot of people have to park in front of Sweet Bay or any store and block the entrance. If you are waiting for someone pull over to a parking space . Your not handy cap. And by doing this you prove your not handy. This just proves people really don't give a crap about others.

Why do people drive on the parkway and park on the driveway?

I also find it annoying that sometimes it is difficult to walk from my car and enter a store because someone is idling their car in front of the door. Sometimes it is worse than that: sometimes the trunk is up and they are loading packages. Whats with that? Pulling a few feet beyond the entrance shouldn't inconvenience them and it would allow others to get in the door without problem. Its the same ole' same ole' "I'm the most important" and they don't look around to see if the are inconveniencing any one else.

Wow..... personally I refuse to let people's actions disturb my peace of mind. People are people and I'm never surprised by what goes on with one caveat; hurting or exploiting children and animals. Sacrificing my peace of mind, therefore my health, isn't worth it. Some days it's a struggle but well worth the effort. Live and Let Live.

The ones who park in front of the store are the same one's who throw butts out of the car, leave dog poop behind, snap their finger for service, complain about the most minor things.....but thankfully they are way less than 1% of the wonderful caring folks that live here in TV. The incidences are so few and far between that the only way I know of them is reading it here.

Hope everyone on TOTV has a wonderful and happy New Year!!

Uh oh. This might be me. I never thought I was being rude; I thought I was being considerate. Whenever I visit someone who has a fancy driveway with pavers or beautiful paint I always park in the street -- just in case my golf cart or my car accidentally leaks something onto their beautiful driveway. I don't think the OP meant street parking if you're a guest. I believe he was referring to parking all the time in front of your house. We have one near us. Car and golf cart in garage. 2nd car always on the road. I don't think"fat and lazy" has anything to do with it. I think just inconsiderate of anyone else.

I think it is considerate when visiting to park in the street, which allows the owners to drive in and out. I think it is considerate for owners to park in their garage. IMHO, if everyone parked in the street, it would make the area look like a used car parking lot. But it's not against the law, just personal preference.

I also find it annoying that sometimes it is difficult to walk from my car and enter a store because someone is idling their car in front of the door. .

I often have trouble with people parking to "load and unload" directly in front of stores....esp. grocery stores, because they are parked over the ramp. I push a wheelchair.....if the car is across the ramp, it's a problem. The driver could easily have pulled up a few feet and it would not be inconvienent to load their people or car with purchases.

Not a big deal usually. But sometimes it is.

One of the posters ask why sweat the small stuff..... I can't speak for the OP but my purpose for addressing such an issue would reflect what I am thinking and not what I am feeling.

It amuses me to see a driver block a lane in a parking lot for a respectable period of time just because they are waiting to get an up front parking spot (handicap exempt here). I say amused because they have placed themselves at a disadvantge when leaving since they are in the most congested section of the parking lot. It is even more amusing when that parking lot is for the MVP Fitness Center.
My wife and I always park a good deal away from the front of the store and take advantage of a chance to walk with the added benefit of less worry about a pedestrian behind or in front of us.

I cannot fault every driver from parking in front of a store as it may have been to let off a handicap person or because they had a heavy return to carry or if there wife is like mine and says she will just be a minute.

But BLOCKING A LANE to get the front paring space that is more than I can take:D

Yes. Not only wheelchairs but canes and walkers as many can't easily safety lift their leg high enough to climb the curb. That is the very reason for having the ramp vs curbs at entrances.
Its not a matter of "cooling it" and just ignore it.....it is a safety issue in many cases.

it is all about laziness. and folks who feel entitled to do whatever they want to. go ahead, park in a fire zone. who is going to ask them to move? go ahead, coast through a stop sign; afterall you are in a hurry. don't carry your own groceries to your car even if you are more than capable to do it for yourself. afterall, now that you are retired you don't have to do anything for yourself..you earned the right to be obnoxious.

Our streets are more narrow than other places; therefore, if you park on the street and the neighbor across the street does the same, you are blocking delivery trucks and making it a little dicey for walkers and bicycles etc. If you have a driveway, use it and give the rest of us some respect.

I agree that you have the most mentally healthy way to handle a situation like that, but on the other side of that coin, why then don't we all park in the street right in front of the handicap ramp or flip our cigarettes on the ground or spit on the sidewalk. I am not sure confronting anyone is the answer, but lets try a list of the top ten most annoying things people do. Put that in as a column in the daily sun. Just perhaps people that do these selfish things do not even realize how they look to the normal person.

Has nothing to do with respect. They are not narrow where I live.delivery trucks have plenty of room. They would not build then if their was not enough room. It is not "dicey for walkers and bicycles , just pay attention to what you are doing. I do not think a vast majority agree with you, just the ones who want to complain do.You just have a good day, and let the petty stuff go.

Good advice about not letting the little things bother you.

I have done that at Ace Hardwire. Drive up to the curb. Mainly because of the very heavy propane tank I had to pick up. Maybe people have bad backs, arthritis, or other medical problems and need help getting their bags to their vehicles. Publix almost always offers people a hand with their groceries. Does Sweet Bay?

In an area where most residents are retired and spending their days walking golf courses, swimming, playing pickleball, dancing, etc, etc..why gripe about walking an extra few feet??? When someone trips and falls to the ground, do you:

1. Offer to help them to their feet.

2. Laugh hysterically.

Some people always think of others, and some people always think of their own enjoyment.

I don't know, but suspect it has to do with how you were raised, personal experience with someone that was selfish or uncaring, or even a personality disorder. We have them all even here in the Friendliest Home Town in America. Fortunately for us, the numbers of the kind and sensitive folks far outnumber the other.
