I am down here for three months and misjudged on a med I take for ocassional sleep anxiety issues. Question? Would I be able to see someone at a local walk in center, such as Paramount, for such a prescription? In other words is this considered an urgent, walk in matter or do I need to find a "regular" clinic.
If anyone has had a similiar experience would appreciate hearing from them.
Thank you

Why don't you just call the store where you get your RX up north and have them call it in down here for what you need. You could also call your doctor up north and have him/her do the same.

I agree. Our friends forgot to bring their meds and CVS called their doctor and got enough to last them for a short visit here.

If the need is greater than just a short supply, maybe you should get "in" with a regular doctor, especially if you are a home owner who will snowbird every year. You never know when you might need someone with your records.

I always had the thought that docs couldn't necessary prescribe from one state to another.
Sounds like I was mistaken. I will contact my Doctor, thanks for the advice.
Also I agree might not be a bad idea to have a doc on call here as well.
Appreciate all the input.

I think it is a good idea to establish a local connection with a doctor here. Currently renting for 3 months but in process of house shopping. My challenge is that I belong to a HMO back home , so no local insurance. Am more than happy to pay cash out of a Health Savings Account for visit, but are local clinics accepting of patients without insurance, even though are financially able to pay cash? I am a few years away from Medicare.
If someone knows of a clinic/Dr. who takes cash patients, would like to hear about it.
