After golf today someone suggested Havana as a change from Bonifay so 12 of us carted over.
The front door was locked and the lights were out at 10A so we walked around back and they said they were open.
NO ONE WAS THERE! NO ONE; just the wait staff!
We looked at the food containers and there was a pancake size splatter of eggs and some sausage and other unrecognizable stuff.
They said they had been slow all morning and did not want to bring much out but could make omelets.
Yeah right. We got the heck out and drove to Bonifay and had a great breakfast.
12 of us and our wives will not be going back.
We heard when the current owner loses his lease that Bonifay/Evans will be taking over. Hope that's true.

Something really strange is happening at Havana lately. I'm not sure what it is, but entertainment has dwindled or taken a strange course. Food is so awful, even us regulars eat first before going there. Management seems to be absent a lot. Staff is very unhappy and leaving to go elsewhere. None of this is fact that I can backup, just an observation from someone who has been a customer for a long time. Just hoping whatever is going on is for the better. Havana has so much potential and is so pretty and the location so great, I hope we'll be really pleased with the end result.

Wow, I'm surprised to hear this today. We stopped in last night for a few drinks. The bar was packed, 2 & 3 deep. Every table was taken & they were on a wait. While I sat there, I was looking around & lots of laughing people. Everyone was eating. It was nice to see. The owner was helping with the expo line.
My hubby does a lot of work there so he is there quite often & sees it when it's crowded. Such a shame !

I've read so many bad reviews of Havana in TOTV. I live close by so I thought I'd see for myself. Went there about 10 days ago and had a delicious dinner and, frankly, some of the best service from a waitress that I've received anywhere in the Villages. She was so good I felt compelled to tip big and tell the manager how pleased I was. Anyway, it sure was a good experience on my one visit. One isn't a big enough sample to form a lasting opinion, but I really had a great time there. Just saying..................

We love their location
Four of us went for their new year's buffet
Great ambiance and music
Was packed (went at 1pm)
But but but, my husband and one of our friends were sick afterwards, food was slim pickings ( though omelet guy and food were good)
Like all before, let us hope it improves
We love their location, decor and a chance to get the little Cuban food available around here .....( when itnis good)

Why do you think they were sick afterwards? Afterwards.....1 hour, 6 hours, next morning, ?? There have been a lot of people sick in TV since Christmas.

In reference to being sick...if in fact it's from food. I once read in a medical informational column, one can have the symptoms of food poisoning occur up to 6 days after eating it. Apparently whatever the microbs are they have to do their thing in your digestive system. So that was pretty enlightening for me to read.

I agree; its my first visit and only because someone mentioned going their after golf this AM.
The patio view is great and the interior is nice too.
Too much bad going on and none of us will go back until something drastic changes for the better.

Kathie, you have to eat before you go there? That's really too bad. The food has been mostly mediocre or worse since they fired the first chef after they opened in 2008.

four of us went to Havana for the New years brunch. We had reservations at @2:00. We were seated and told to enjoy the buffet. Other than the omelet station with one overworked attendant the food was either non-existent or disgusting. The bloody Mary was good. Three strikes Havana, your out.

1. Has the buffet improved? It appears there have been more positive comments on dinner
2. Are reservations taken for the Sunday buffet?
I did call the restaurant, but had to leave a message

Me too. I live practically next door and have been scared off by all the negative comments here. Yet the few times I"ve been there, the food was OK, not great but not bad. And it's so pretty and the service I've had has been super. I really don't know what's going on but I hope they fix it.

This is a surprising post ! What buffet food did you see ? Havana only does breakfast on Sundays. Who did you talk to this morning ?

Yes, 4 of us were at Havana tonight at the bar. We all ate & everything was good. They had a nice crowd. Ran into some friends there celebrating a birthday. There were 14 of them & everyone said they enjoyed their meals.
