I am here for 3 months and have an HMO up north. I do have a Health Savings Account which I use to medical expenses not covered by my HMO. Seeing a Dr. here in the Villages would fall under that category so my question is , does anyone know of internal medicine providers that accept new patients on cash basis? Perhaps even offering lower fees?

I cannot directly answer your question but suggest selecting a couple providers from the recommendations of friends or this website's many such threads. Then call and ask to speak to the office manager. Most insurance companies pay something between 70 and 80 % of billed charges. And then there is the cost of sending them the bill and awaiting payment. I would suggest offering cash at the time of service of 80% to 70% of their charge and see if they will accept it and write off the difference.

Maybe you already know....stay aware of changes to how much income you can put into the Health Savings Account now, due to more portions of the new healthcare law going into effect:
As of January 2013, you will only be able to save $2,500 pre-tax through your HSA, down from $5,000 now. Also, medical expenses must be at least 10% of income before you can deduct the amount over the limit. You can deduct medical expenses above 7.5% of income now.
