Has anyone installed a spa - either in the ground outside of their Lanai or a portable one inside their lanai? Who did you use, and which did you do? Any other information would be great. Thanks so much

Bought a portable 5 person spa from T & D Pools store in Colony Plaza. They have a larger showroom on 466 with a greater selection on the floor to looks at and compare. The one that I bought runs on 110 volts so you basically put water in it and plug it into a standard outlet and start enjoying it. I have a CYV and the spa sits outside and not inside my lanai.

Spa's cost about $5K - 12K for an above ground unit, the concrete built in's cost about $15K-20K.

There are many used for sale from $1,000, (craigs list)that are great these spa's R not used much.
Look for a 220 not 110, they have heaters and a fair size motor that will cost less to operate and heat better with 220V.

If you buy used figure $250 to pickup and move to your home.

You also can sink an above ground unit into the ground to look like a custom build.

We have an above ground Michael Phelps Momentum Swimspa. It is 20 feet long, 4 ft deep and 8 ft wide. It has the divider for the hot tub which has its own heater and then the pool with the propulsion jets on the other side with its own heater. If you want more info you can email me at jane032657@aol.com It is huge and you need a very large area to place it. I use it every day for both the hot tub and for water excercises. It is a very important part of my daily routine. It is costly to heat so I strongly suggest being fully committed to using it if you were to purchase a swimspa of this size. I am grateful every day not only to live in The Villages, but to be able to use this for my overall health and well being.

Pich a Penny has a two person corner unit, indoor/outdoor for around $3500. No sales tax if you have a perscription from your doctor. It fits nicely in a corner so it won't take up too much space. It is plug and play ready and portable if you need to move it.

My spa from T & D cost approximately $4200. Their spas run from approx $3500 to $7000 plus depending on what extras you want to put into them.

I bought the 110 volt and the only drawback is that the water takes longer to heat up. You cannot run the hi speed jets and heater at the same time. I didn't find that to be an issue when I purchased the spa. You can go for the 220 volt but now you have to hire an electrician to run the line and I have no idea what that would cost.

We have had the spa for a year and love it.

Do most of you have them in your lanai? or have another birdcage? or outside? Our grassy area is not too big. Thank you so much for all the help! We will be there soon (moving into Amelia) and I can't wait!

Ours is within a bird cage, simply to get the sun at the same time I would guess inside the lanai may be cool on certain says.

Also in the sun U will gain solar heat a bit.

If you put it outside on the grass, you MUST have a lock on the cover.

If in the lanai or bird cage watch your distance to windows, also locks on doors must be 54" high, and an alarm on all windows & doors leading into the area

I bought a used one from a friend. 3 person with jets and blowers that needs 220. Adds about $40 to electric bill for mine. I work at publics lifting milk cartons and when i get home from work i use it and i i feel iif100 per cent better after 15 minutes. Have it on my pad outside linuai?

We bought a used spa from other TVer's. Had T&D move it. Cost was $275. Additional fee for "hook up and instruct" of $80 (well worth it). T&D guys were great.

Previous owners had it in an inside, enclosed, lanai (actually like a room). We had it installed on our screened lanai, under roof, not birdcage.

We had 220 installed by Pike's Electric, recommened by T&D. The cost was $850. Pike's said that's pretty standard cost, unless you have some issue they need to overcome. Most TV houses don't. We did get some phone estimates from other companies, and they were within the same range.

LOVE IT. I'm sure the honeymoon will wear off.....just look at all the spas on lanais, with nobody in them....but for now, all is good! :)

No, not a big distance. Just the usual....garage to lanai, over the kitchen and part of the living area. Like I said, Pike's said that's the standard fee, and it was right in line with other places, too. We had also talked to several contractors about enlarging our lanai, in prep for the spa, and the cost for 220, on the estimates, was $1000.

We just purchased a spa and haven't had it delivered yet. In another week or two, it will be delivered. We went with a 110v South Seas Model from Tri-County Spa. The items that drove our decision....$815 was quoted to install 220v in our lanai & the dimensions of our doors. We found that the initial models of spa that we were looking at were too large for our doors.

Not sure what to say if those R the going electrical rates, I'm glad I'm running my own 220V, it will cost me less than $200.

These guys R working on some fat margins of profit.

Just to give an idea of elec cost a #6 wire from your main panel to a sub panel is $3 a foot, a junction box with disconnect is $80.

So how can they charge $800+
