Did anyone else see this news story this morning? I have been thinking about it while getting breakfast and wondered what on earth anyone would do in this situation. I cannot imagine losing 19 years of my child's life. I am assuming the grandparents in question have to face kidnap charges! But you have a young man who has been raised by one set of parents and is now faced with finding out his whole life has been a lie.

Interesting story. Unfortunately this happens all of the time, maybe not by abduction, but by adoption. I was adopted and found out at 30 that my life up to that point was a lie. As the saying goes, "what doesn't kill you, makes you stronger."

My brother's daughter was abducted by her mother at about 3 years of age. It was heart wrenching for our family. My brother was absolutely crushed. She was found several years later, in another state far from us. She became a part of our lives but it just was never the same, it is hard to get back the years lost.

I had read the original entry incorrectly and had transposed the states....abducted from Minnesota, found in Indiana. Then when I read the article, I knew I'd been wrong. It gave me a start as there was an abduction in MN (but it probably was much earlier than 1994) of Jacob Wetterling, who still hasn't been found. It made the national news and America's Most Wanted. What joy the family must be feeling with this other young man being found!!
Such a heartbreaking event for any family when a child goes missing!!!

That's very true. I remember the Wetterling case (Oct 1989-) from when I still lived in Minneapolis and was working for the University of Minnesota Law Library while living with my then girlfriend a U of MN law student Jennifer V.
I also lived in the Petaluma CA area when Polly Klaas went missing. Many people in that area tried to do everything they could to find Polly Klass. They even got Hollywood involved in the guise of hometown Petaluma celebrity Winona Ryder. Sounds to me like once he grew up, he didn't want to be found. Why didn't he contact his parents all those years ago? he's an adult now with a wife and baby, yet he never told the parents where he was? Hmmm...

Here's the story in the NY Daily News.
Indiana boy abducted at age 5 found 19 years later, after being raised by grandparents who assumed aliases - NY Daily News (http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/boy-abducted-5-found-indiana-article-1.1238079)
They found him by tracking him with his social security number. I am puzzled by why his mother did not furnish this information sooner.
Just sayin.......
