This is the first time I have made a major move like this. We are leaving our bedrooms and living room furniture but looking around at the boxes I'm wondering how it's all going to fit! Just curious, approximately how many boxes did you end up bringing? :2excited:

At least two dozen!

But, 15 went to the St. Louis Book Fair, with well more than 100 books which my late wife had originally purchased from the same fair, mostly at 25 cents each, or less! I claimed about $25 as a charitable donation!

Inasmuch as I moved here nearly 8 years ago, I really can't say with any degree of certainity how many I brought with me!

Many who have followed have suggested, "Bring less than than half of what you think you can't bear to be parted from!"

Makes sense to me!

We gave a whole lot of "stuff" away, sold some on Craigslist, junked a lot at the junkyard (oops, sanitary landfill) and brought some to The Villages.

I think we had around 65 of the large plastic tubs from Wal-Mart that we moved. They were in addition to quite a few cardboard cartons from the movers. The movers called when we were packing and said they had lots of cardboard cartons including wardrobe and picture cartons that had come from another move and we could have them free. Good deal!

I am not planning to move to another house EVER. I love where I am.

We had at least 150 boxes. We definitely didn't give enough away before we moved here. Many have experienced the same dilemma. So we ave away a lot more once we moved here. It does make me feel good to think that someone might be enjoying their new finds.

Welcome to The Villages!

I think the way to go is to start packing your boxes now. For each box note what room it is going into when you get to the villages. In general don't pack what you have not used in the last year and do not think you will need to buy in the future. I can see 100 boxes. I can also see only a few if you buy everything new so it will be hard to get an answer that will help you.

Living on loaner IKEA furniture for the next month. Feels like a college dorm room..............

Get a tape gun and 12 rolls of tape.

I used all 18" cube boxes east to stack any which way.

Also 10 mirror boxes for picture flat screen tv's etc.

From a large 4-bedroom home, 240 boxes. From subsequent condo to The Villages, about 110 boxes.
