Now that we are frogs, I want to change some of the furniture I purchased when we bought our home. It is in excellent condition and would like to use a consignment shop. I have never done this and am a bit confused with chosing one. What have been your experiences with these places - good and bad?

Many people use Bargains and Treasures, a shop just outside The Villages on 466 down from Walmart. They come to your house, give you an estimate of what it will sell for, you get 55% of that when it sells. They are honest and well-known in The Villages.

We used Bargains and Treasures and feel exactly the same.

AND if you haven't been there or ever been to a consignment shop, go and look. They ONLY take nice clean things. We purchased many things there when we were decorating our first house here and so have a lot of folks I know.

I had never been to a consignment shop before moving here, and I stop by whenever I am near to see what they have.

Very well run and very busy.

I sold a few things with Bargains and Treasures. No problems. They set the price and the next thing I knew they sent me a check. There is also Nerlee New on 441/27 just south of the Villages. They come to you, pay you for the furniture and take it. So no waiting for it to sell before you get paid. I don't know the % or any details, but you may want to call them to compare.

Another vote for Bargains & Treasures. Tried to sell some on my own and got no where. Turned the items over to them and they sold it in less than a month and the check I received was for more than I was asking myself. Can't give them enough credit for the good job they do.

There is also Carriage Trade in Ocala. I have never consigned with them but I shop there every time I go to Ocala. It is huge and very nice. It looks more like a showroom for new furniture - merchandise not as crowded together as Bargains and Treasures. Too bad it's so far away...

We bought quite a bit from the following, listed from most spent:

Neerlee New - Fruitland Park Neerleenewfurnishings Webpage (http://Neerleenewfurnishings.com/)
Furnature Barn - Fruitland Park Furnature Barn Webpage (http://furniturebarnconsignment.com/Home.html)
Bargains & Treasurers * - Oxford FL Bargains & Treasures Webpage (http://bargains-treasures-fl.hub.biz/)

* We received a check from B&T just this week for an item we couldn't sell ourselves on TOTV. We consigned it on 12/3/12.

Neerlee New is in Fruitland Park south of 466A on 441/27. It is in a former car dealership on the west side of the road. It is just before you get to Walmart. Went there Saturday and they have great things. Clean and in good condition. Its worth a trip.

I found that Neerlee New prices are on the high side... Love B&T!
