This is a "heads up" to all the retirees moving here who are not yet 65 and not old enough for medicare.

Was at a class this morning where they were asking for donations to help one of our under 65, well under 65, members. She has been diagnosed with cancer "and it's bad", and she does not have the medical coverage to handle the cost of her care.

Please, when you are considering retiring before 65, take into account that you need health care to take care of catastrophic problems. It may never happen to you, but if it does its devastating and can wipe you out.

My other half had cancer several years ago, and every chemo transfusion was $800 and he had chemo every two weeks for about 11 months! In our case, medicare covered his bills - thank you Medicare!
